April is absolutely gorgeous, both outside my window and inside my laptop. Writers, photographers, cooks-- artists of all media seem to be inspired to be sprung into Spring, and they are blogging it. Here is a bouquet of posts prompted by the end of hibernation, new growth, warming weather and all that blooms with it.
1. Ph.D. in Yogurty is dancing to a Bluebonnet Spring.
Perhaps more rare than a blue moon, this red Bluebonnet growing on my street, might be one such good thing.
2. Ms. Moon at Bless Our Hearts is hot for roosters.
Elvis is more rooster than I need and he's the one I have and he is a gorgeous, big, strong rooster who, although he copulates more frequently and with more force than I would wish, can be a sweet husband to the sister-wives.
3. Catrinka at What Matters is thinking about her birthday and growth.
Patrick commented yesterday on the grass. "It's so pretty, Momma! I love it! We have the only grass with little tiny flowers!" Today we mowed, in response.
4. Curried Jane is thinking about craving sex more than supper at 5:15 on springtime eves.
Picture this, here you have this latin, Mediterranean, insert your choice of label here, guy clearly showing he wouldn’t mind engaging in some juice fest with yours truly.
5. Gwen at Cheeky Monkey shows us a gorgeous spring break in Spain.
Bull rings visited: 1, Bullfights viewed: 0, Hemingway invocations: 13, Ferdinand invocations: 14.
6. City Mama Stephania Pomponi Butler sends bloggy postcards from Rome, and hopes to make it home past the ash cloud.
So many delicious things at an Italian deli! When I die, just put my ashes in a little container and set me on the shelf. That's my idea of heaven.
7. Dana at One Haute Plate shares secrets of April barbecue rituals in the South.
Whole neighborhoods dust off their grills and smokers to exercise their rite (born or transplanted) to this Southern romance.
8. Leann Locher dreams of tomatoes and prepares a spring garden at LeLo in NoPo.
Get a jump start now to get in those soaker hoses or drip irrigation, and be thankful for a summer not spent tied to the hose.
9. The Quarter Acre Farm is full of artichokes.
Maybe carmelize then add a bit of white wine, or maybe a knob of butter...a drift of cream, tossed with pasta...mmm.
10. Find a gorgeous show of spring photos through the links in the comments at the Shutter Sisters' celebration of spring's nerve.
In early April life presses through the earth speculatively, a front line subject to nature's yea or nay. We see wick green budding among brown and marvel could it be? and the smart ones among us throw salt over left shoulders and knock on wood, because the universe counters brash optimism with unexpected snowfalls.
What does spring look like in your life, and in your blog? If you've carved out time to post --maybe from your iPad at a picnic table -- link to your springtime adventures in the comments.
