With the New Year fast approaching, we took a look back at the past year and the apps that really made their mark with kids. In order to find out which apps were played the most by kids, we focused our research on the apps that were played more than 1 million times on the KIDO’Z platform. Here are the top 10 the most popular apps:

  1. Angry Birds
  2. 2. Subway Surfers
  3. 3. Temple Run
  4. 4. Talking Ginger
  5. 5. Fruit Ninja (free)
  6. 6. Cut the Rope
  7. 7. PicsArt for Kids
  8. 8. Bad Piggies
  9. 9. Where’s My Perry?
  10. 10. Hill Climb Racing

We’re sure you’re already familiar with a few of the apps that made it into the top 10 list. What we find most interesting is that although this top 10 included well-known brands from the mobile world, only one app, Where’s My Perry?  is a recognized brand, created by Disney originally for TV.

With times and trends constantly changing, many megastars of today kids’ brands, such as Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and Fruit Ninja are mobile apps making their way into the offline world. This is quite surprising as many of us expected TV characters to still be the main characters most in demand.

So does this mean that TV is becoming a thing of the past for kids? Only time will tell, but one thing for sure, the new apps echo system which is an integral part of the mobile world will have strong effect on the kids’ toys and entertainment industry in the coming years.
