The 2010 Academy Awards are history and though Meryl didn't take home an Oscar (again), she's a winner in my world. Some thoughts on what our kids can learn from her films:
10.

- "Mamma Mia!"
In life, it's very important to have two, great girlfriends and plenty of silly songs to sing together.
9.

- "Mother Courage and Her Children"
If Meryl can rock Bertolt Brecht's "Mother Courage and Her Children" at the Delacorte outdoor theatre in Central Park during a hurricane, you can manage your paper route with a few raindrops on your head.
8.

- "Manhattan"
Daughters: If you're gonna date guys that are shorter than you, at least make sure they're funny.
You'll thank me.
Sons: if you're gonna fall in love with a Manhattan girl, make sure she's straight.
You'll really thank me.
7.

- "The French Lieutenant's Wife"
You too can rock a cape and frizzy hair, honey. It's all in the attitude. Throw in a vague, Eastern European accent. You'll be a knockout!
6.

- "The Devil Wears Prada"
Bosses can be mean. Really mean. But if you quit your job, Mommy and Daddy will not let you move back home. Not gonna happen.
5.

- "A Cry In The Dark"
No, we will not go on an Australian vacation so a dingo can eat your baby sister.
No dice, mait.
4.

- "Julie & Julia"
Cooking with butter while talking a sing songy voice makes fish taste yummy.
Now eat your Gorton's.
3.

- "Sophie's Choice"
If Mommy is ever faced with a "Sophie's Choice" moment, don't worry. I'll make sure they take the dog.
2.

- "Kramer Vs. Kramer"
Sometimes you probably think that Mommy does bad, mean or hurtful things.
If that is -- in fact -- true, forgive us okay?

Meryl has lost more awards than she's won. May you be that lucky in life.
