We are going on a mini vacation this summer. I think it is important to take time for family...even if it is a staycation.

CrystalsCozyKitchen 5 pts

I'd love to spend money on clothes but it's not in the budget this year...

CrystalsCozyKitchen 5 pts

I love the change in seasons and spend extra time birding because of migration. Plus spring just makes me want to go observe birds!

Spending my time and money gardening...

Bought the mister and me tickets to a ball game. Bought a big ole bag of Easter candy and I'm not sharing it with anybody.

I don't splurge in spring. I would love to but can't. I would buy new clothes for our family and lots and lots of plants!

In the spring, I splurge on massages, hair styling and products to get ready for summer.

I usually splurge in clothes as the weather turns and I'm craving lovely dresses and skirts. This year, I've been saving up for new lenses and a camera bag for my D40.

Having just accepted a new position, my spring splurge is an entire new wardrobe. Gone are the days of jeans, t-shirt and flip flops - hello business suits and heels... so my big spend for the new season is on myself, advancing my career and looking good all in 1.

emmalee2021 5 pts

A few new shirts (to replace the 12+ year old ones) and 2 new plants for the garden!

missbritt 5 pts

Something about the weather getting warmer always makes me realize I have NOTHING to wear and NO makeup. Anywhere. At all. I SWEAR!

It would be nice for a change to be the first person to open up a new book.
As much as I appreciate my local library, the beauty of cracking open the binding of a new book (or two or three!) is a feeling I haven't had in a very long time.

We have our neighborhood garage sale in April, which is perfect timing because I normally do a little splurge in early May - I use Mother's Day and my late-April birthday as an excuse for a new handbag. I then do a late summer splurge in the name of BlogHer Fashion - I always buy a few new tops for the conference.

maybe it is spring, maybe it is the upcoming move, but either way, our next place is bigger than a shoebox (hooray!) and i can't wait to buy a dining room table.

kelseykim 5 pts

I bought flowers to spruce up my dining room table, which is normally a huge waste to me, as we live in a place that is the most green and flowery during the winter/early spring(Southern CA), but it brightens up the house. And I have been splurging on enrolling my kids in spring community classes(swimming/karate, etc...). For me personally, probably some new cute sandals will be soon...I need some new ones! And my husband just got some new everyday shirts. So yes, we do some purchasing when the weather warms up.

hikerchic 5 pts

My spring splurges include lots of plants and flowers for my garden, new shoes, especially flip flops and sandals for the four kiddos. Camping gear and swimming gear for the summer! Oh and new sundresses, shorts and t-shirts! I usually budget for clothes and will even go thrifting to find my deals!

Aubrey Hall

peach106 5 pts

I buy new clothes, whether I need them or not. And always sandals, sandals, sandals!

Mary Ann Stafford 5 pts

No, I am not particularly splurging this year. Funds are tight.

matousm 5 pts

I splurge by going to a Texas Rangers's game during opening week. There is just something about watching baseball and eating a hot dog (and maybe the cute guys playing on the field) that says HELLO SPRING!

Geri Rosbury Hausler 5 pts

This time of year, it's all about garage sales and gardening! The weather is perfect for both!

salamicat 5 pts

Spring is when the catlogs come. I never NEED anything. But now Land's End has polo tees with ruffles! How can a woman resist that? And ever since I realized that Crocs are old news, I have been searching for a sandal that will turn heads but cushion heels. And if it weren't for Spanx, I would never even ENTER a fitting room. Oh, yes, and of course, I do purchase the necessities as well: a Pandora charm here and there, new sunglasses, and perhaps some sunscreen.

My Sew Sweet Studio 5 pts

By far, my biggest splurge in the Spring is plants and flowers for my front yard. I cannot wait every year to purge my flower beds of weeds and leaves and anything that looks like it had too hard a winter. Then I go for color, color, color.

pillworm 5 pts

Typically I get myself a nice long dress and some flip flops. Right now though with the baby coming in May it has been all baby stuff and nothing for me. The baby is going to be my spring present this year!

Linda Merryman 5 pts

I bought a new suit to wear on Easter. It was a mental lift to have something fresh and new!

another Spring splurge? The first manicure of the season:)

lindaasmith 5 pts

I love Spring and always splurge on flowers this time of year!

I will be getting new sandals and flip flops. Since we moved near the beach that's really all I wear in the summer!

UP A GREEN TREE 5 pts

Up here in the Great North West everyone welcomes spring with great anticipation.
It's been along cold winter, (lots of rain and snow)so nothing compares to blooming flowers. The garden centers see us coming.
I unfroze my green thumb, layered socks and a warm jacket stepped outside searched in vain for some gloves and planted 2 new rose bushes. I hope the cat next door doesn't decide to make it his new kitty box!

Amy Ivester Allen 5 pts

I've got to have dressy flip-flops and casual flip-flops in a variety of colors!

Clothes! (that FIT!) I dropped from a size 14 to a size 8 since January. After less than 1200 calories a day and incomprehensible amounts of workouts, weight lifting, yoga, and running I NEED some new clothes! (I'm tired of holding my yoga pants up while I'm running . . .)

Frog Hollow Farm Girl 5 pts

I love fresh flowers, and buy tons of them once March comes around. I just can't help myself! Ciao, bella!

mombaum 5 pts

I have decided to add some backyard chickens to my tiny farm in the city and my "girls" are about 4 weeks old and almost ready to go outside. I would definitely use the money to finish building thier coop.

1. I'm going to hit the Farmers' Markets starting next week and splurge on some incredible local produce- the fresh vegetables are definitely my favorite thing about spring and summer.

2. I'm thinking of buying an ice cream maker to make all sorts of frozen desserts this summer.

PandaBox33 5 pts

In spring, I splurge on new clothes and new shoes, on pedicures and haircuts. I splurge on a beach pass for summer, a bikini, new skin creams adapted to the season...

meadowcrestcottage 5 pts

When Spring arrives, I splurge on getting my house and driveway and sidewalks pressure washed.  I also buy truckloads of new mulch for all the flower and shrub beds.  It makes everything so fresh and new looking.

poeteees 5 pts

My springtime splurge is going to be BOOKS. It would be great to buy some about some of my newest hobbies. Books are something I never feel too bad about spending money on, and my kids already love to be read to--but of course, there is ALWAYS another good book waiting for me at the bookstore, so books and some coffee are always a treat for me.

**I have a new blog up, called Not Quite Twins. Please visit it at:

There is a triple giveaway starting this Wednesday, so please take a look for more details. Thank you!

I really only go nuts buying stuff this time of year. I shell out a lot for dirt, soil amendments, row covers, neem oil, seeds, and seedlings. Its ok though cuz I save a ton on groceries all the way til the first deep freeze!

Linette36 5 pts

I do splurge in Spring but mostly on clothes for the kids and outdoor furniture! I have lost 50 pounds since December so I think this year I will splurge on clothes for myself.

Erin from Long Island 5 pts

Once the winter thaw has started, off to the nursery I go! Dirt(s), seed, plants, landscape fabric, neem oil, row covers....

I spend a lot, but I save a bunch of money on groceries all the way to late fall!

cupcakeskissesncrumbs 5 pts

We usually splurge on sandals for the kids for the whole summer, organizing stuff and some cutesy flowers!

elizabethinthisworld 5 pts

Every spring I buy an obscene number of 20 lb. bags of organic compost and seasoned cow manure. So, yes, my splurge is a pile of s**t. The content of those green and orange bags is the secret of my gardening success, producing a bounty of tomatoes, peppers, peas, spinach, lettuce, cabbage, strawberries, currants, gooseberries, raspberries, and a wide array of drought-tolerant, zone 5, long-blooming perennials – I have flowers blooming from March through November here in the Great Lakes region. In the past I have bought as many as 20 bags in one trip, piling them expertly in the back of my wagon. But now that I am the proud owner of a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid, I am not sure how many bags I will be able to cram in there. I am determined to make it 20, even if they have to ride in the passenger’s seat beside me.

To read more about my gardening adventures and their unexpectedly sensuous outcomes, see my post “Love Apple” which also aired as a listener commentary on my local NPR affiliate WVPE-FM (the audio is not available yet on their brand-new website – hopefully soon).
