I am friends with my two teenagers (13, 15) on facebook so I can openly monitor their page. I do not reply to posts but every two weeks or so I make a post to my child about something positive they did. I do this so that their friends know I monitor the page. I see it as no different than a parent occassionally walking in the basement when teenagers are hanging out. My kids also tell their friends their parents monitor their technology, including text.

As they age we will back off but several years of supervisor to instill using technology well is good for them.

I am not friends with my kids friends. As someone said beautiful on this page "I'm not a friend. I'm a parent."

nimbibble 5 pts

I'm friends with my Mom on FB, if I had kids, I think I would be with them as well.

amiedanny 5 pts

vehemently anti-facebook, so NO!

ma04santos 5 pts

I facebook friends with my sons friends. It's good to hear how they are doing and also it's the only way to keep stay in touch.

ma04santos 5 pts

Of course I facebook with my son and some of his friends as well.

queenofallthis 5 pts

Yes I am friends with my 20 something year old kids. I am also friends with some of their friends, (per the friends requests). I try to keep my distance and not dive into their business, but the stuff I see is stuff I am involved with most the time anyway. Also, they know enough not to post something that would make Mom gasp. That would mean it is not appropriate to post online anyway. Wow that made us sound like goody two shoes.

BeckiHRH-Queen of all this!

Stephanie Buckland 5 pts

Absolutely I would and already have friended my children and several of their friends (requested to be my friend first) on Facebook. It's a great way to keep in touch!

ma04santos 5 pts

I am also Facebook friends with my sons friends, alway good to see how they are doing and being able to see how they have grown up and some with kids.

godan 5 pts

no because i have no interest in the thing

Just Barely 5 pts

I depends on what people are up to. If someone's just trying to be a busy body I ignore the friend invite (like the one from my mother-in-law!). My kids are still too young for facebook, but I'll be friends with them only if they ask.

pamelaschmidt 5 pts

I am not my kids friend. I am their parent.

gkran 5 pts

No, I don't have facebook and wouldn't let my kids have it either.

ghostamongyou 5 pts

Sure I'm friends with anybody. Wanna be my friend too? :)

choochoo 5 pts

Yes! She's young enough to not care.

PauleyD 5 pts

I also supervised and monitored computer usage and what sites they visited.

Bakersdozen 5 pts

My kids are trying to get me to use Facebook more, so if it is alright with my kids I would.

ma04santos 5 pts

Of course I am there facebook friend at least on of them and there friends also:)

ma04santos 5 pts

I do facebook my son and also his friends, it's good to see what they are up to:)

carolpie 5 pts

My daughter yes. She shares photos of her babies and animals, etc. with us. We talk and keep in contact all the time that way.
My son no. He has girls on there and I think wants to keep it more private without Mom and Dad. But hey, he is 25!

3stairs 5 pts

I definitely plan on friending my kids on Facebook when they get older.

flowerbunny 5 pts

I have the facebook account in my name so prospective college cannot look up my child's account and possibly use it against her. Since it's in my name and I have access to it I do check in once in a while but so far it's all benign.

Lvpierson 5 pts

Now my kids can't have a facebook without being my friend on there, that way I can keep an eye on them and they are careful about what they post...I don't snoop but I do watch out for them...Their friends? Maybe depending on why they wanted to be friends with me, if they needed some love and guidance then of course, anytime!

I would friend them, but they don't want to friend ME!! Wonder what that says LOL?

motherchar 5 pts

I don't do the facebook thing. If I did, I would friend my kids, but not their friends. I wouldn't put anything on there that I wouldn't want my kids to see anyway. I'm always amazed at some of the things people put on their pages :)

slehan 7 pts

I'm not even 'friends' with my friends on FB. I don't have kids. Thanks for the contest.

willitara 5 pts

Only two of my children have Facebook accounts and they are both adults with children of their own. I'm also friends with several of my grandchildren and their friends.

ccboobooy 5 pts

My son doesn't have a Facebook account.

eaglesforjack 5 pts

My kids are two young, but I would for sure friend them and hope to be friends with their friends, to help know what they are into.

dvice 5 pts

They're too young now but I think I probably wouldn't until they're grownup, too much invasion of their privacy

Kathleen W. 5 pts

My son is too young to be on Facebook, but I'm not sure I'd be friends with him--well, I guess it would be nice to keep tabs on him. On the other hand, my 5th grade teacher friended me there and I find it a little weird. It almost makes me want to censor myself on it.

susan1215 5 pts

Yes, I would friend my kids facebook when they are old enough to get one. I would not friend my kids friends.

ptreskovich 5 pts

jennafer211 5 pts

I do not have children, but I am friends with my mom on facebook.

stonerb 5 pts

Yes, I have Facebook friend my kids and there there friends.

216amyc 5 pts

Amy

Nope! I do not want to have to censor any of the content on my page- so I will not be friends with anyone under the age of 18.

skalobster11 5 pts

I'd only accept their friend request (not initiate it!) and I'd never write on their friend's walls as to not embarrass them.

Atreau 5 pts

I don't have kids yet but am Facebook friends with my parents as well as other family members.

mommyto 5 pts

Yes, I'm friends with my daughter.

barbarawr 5 pts

OMG - NO!!!! They have both forbidden me to request them as friends.

colorfulcarla 5 pts

I don't have kids yet, but I convinced my parents (any my grandma!) to join facebook, and yes, we are in fact friends.

garrettsambo 5 pts

With a teen it is very interesting. I'm sure she would want her own friends separate from her family but you have to check her Facebook out every once in a while. I would but I wouldn't force her to accept me as a friend. garrettsambo@aol.com

weblynx 5 pts

I would if I had kids but I do friend my neice, she is a young mom and what she says is really funny

fangirl 5 pts

I don't have kids, but I would either friend them, or insist that they give me their passwords.

wigraupel 5 pts

i don't even have a facebook, he did say he would friend me if i did :0)

weebb33 5 pts

Yes I am friends with my kids on facebook, and some of their friends too!!!
