Welcome to The $100 Question, where fellow BlogHers are asking questions ... and every answer could be worth one hundred dollars!
$100 Question Whisk : A Food Blog
Let's meet today's host: Shari from Whisk : A Food Blog

I’m an avid foodie based in Ottawa, Canada. Every aspect of food is interesting to me, from researching the origins of a dish, to making it at home, writing about it, tasting it, and finally capturing its beauty in a photograph. I started blogging in January of 2008 to document my lifelong dream of attending culinary school. I started working through a cooking school curriculum using the cookbook Le Cordon Bleu at Home. The ‘lessons’ are based on the curriculum of the famous culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu and can be found online for use at home.In September 2009 I enrolled in Basic Cuisine at Le Cordon Bleu, Ottawa. It was literally a dream come true. I graduated from Basic Cuisine in November 2009. Around the same time I became the weekly food and wine columnist for Metro Ottawa newspaper, which gives me yet another reason to explore new gastronomic adventures.

Ready to play? Here is The $100 Question for Friday, July 2:

I am a spontaneous, adventure loving person who loves to travel. Last week, I opted for a crazy getaway to renew my energy and invigorate my spirits. I flew to Paris, France for a long weekend where I tasted the greatest ice cream in the world, gazed at original paintings by Van Gogh and Monet and sipped wine at an outdoor café by the Seine. It renewed my soul.

So, what location in the world does (or would) renew your spirit and invigorate your soul?

How to play: Tell Shari your answer to her question in the comments below by 5 p.m. Monday, July 5 to be eligible to win. We'll enter all the comments into a randomizer and choose one lucky commenter to win. Comment as many times as you want. Click here to read the official rules. Good luck!

I'd go to Ireland to hear Gaelic spoken, stand on cliffs overlooking the sea, and visit ancient castles.

I find it very calming to walk to the park and watch children play. The delight of a child playing in a park is unmatched (most of the time, lol)

To be back home in Tennessee would be great for my soul!

It is breathlessly quiet except for the chirping of the early morning birds and the hum of the hummingbird wings at their feeder - it's a time to commune with God and pray for those on my prayer list - When I concentrate on others I find my troubled get smaller.

If I could, I would go back to Hawaii, where I grew up. Since I can't afford to do that, instead I listen to my favorite Hawaiian music group--the Brothers Cazimero. Listening to their music soothes me and takes me back home in my mind. It works for me!

I take my favorite book, a crisp apple and a big glass of sweet tea. I go under our Magnolia tree and read my book as the smell of Magnolias help to melt my stress away. The sugary sweet tea hits every sweet tooth I have which is left to crunch the apple. Life just does not get any better than that.

Right in my own backyard. No matter how the day goes when I get back home, I feel at peace with myself and the world.

Why do I go there? Because it's where I exercise. I always feel so relaxed and energized after a workout. When I need to burn off stress or just unwind, I spend 30-60 minutes alone in that bedroom. I come out with a clear mind and a smile on my face! :)

There is a small lake that isn't heavily populated because it doesn't offer the amenities of the larger lakes. I love to go late in the day and stay for sunset. It is the most therapeutic thing I can do for myself.

My sweetie's arms. A quick hug, kiss, or cuddle renews me.

My first reaction was San Francisco (home) - a strenuous hike just north or south of the City followed by a fabulous meal.

If I were to go somewhere wild like you for a long weekend that would have to be Rome, Italy. I love the insanity of the Romans and the food.

But a 5+ day trip to the wilderness is probably the one "place" that always resets my brain and body.

The lights, the glamour, the cheesyness. A city where you can have the best meal of your life, walk past a shark tank and go see a magic show all in the same building.

My oasis in the dessert!

I renew my spirit at home. I send everybody else away so I don't have to take care of anybody else's needs but my own. And then I work in the garden, play piano... all the things I never find time for because I'm too busy taking care of everybody else
