Does Facebook count? Actually, I usually go with npr.org.

I go to WND.com. Yeah, it's over the top, but they're not afraid to dig up answers to questions that everyone else is afraid to ask. Just skip over the really crazy stuff (Is the Sky Turning a Brilliant Shade of Orange Due to Al Gore's Halitosis?) and you'll find what's going on several days before the MSM has the guts to look at the story.

The best news source? My mom, hands down.

She texted me when Sarah Palin was nominated as VP, and called me when my sister was arrested in Israel (long story--she made it out fine).

She always knows what's going on, and keeps me informed when my life is too busy to read about things myself.

Best "official" news source? NPR is my favorite. Where else can you hear about happening around the country and world, and then get a two minute spot on the history of the ice cream cone? Always important to keep things in perspective.

I have to say www.npr.org ( http://www.npr.org )
I find it a great ressource of information for all around the world, and I can read it while at work when I can't catch it on the radio :)

Hey CJane! That is a good question! I think people are always searching for correct information because there is so much false info out there.

For politics I go to realclearpolitics.com

For news I read what's on my MSN browser that pops up when I log into IM. Unless I'm searching for something specific, then I search in google.

For parenting, I go to Webmd.com since it is usually health related. If not, I like to hear what other moms have to say in their blogs!

I watch the Today show on NBC every morning starting at the (far too early) hour
of 6am. I get caught up on all the current events, celebrity drama and even the weather forecast before I muster up the energy to make my bed for the day.

I'm TAing for an International Relations class next semester and we are required to read the New York Times to keep up on the news. It's pretty great. I'm not a parent but I also love reading lots of blogs on the blogher network for advice on life, the universe, and everything! I love the diversity of opinions and lives (and recipes!).

Reuters..most reliable. Although, I have to admit, lately I have filtering everything that I read, and making sure it is along a more positive note. I never thought I would be a person who stook her head in the mud. However, it has been overwhelming lately, and I need a break.

I'm a sucker for foxnews, but I also go to the local newspaper site, mysa.com. For parenting stuff, I'm a big fan of, http://placetobloom.blogspot.com

Mostly NPR in the mornings, but I check out HuffPo for some stuff and BBC for the Pakistan stuff since I've got so many connections with that country, and they've got really good coverage.

I try to stay well-rounded, but my primary sources for news and analyses are right-handed:

The Drudge Report
The Heritage Foundation
Politico blog
Breitbart
Talk radio
Blogs

I avoid all local news channels and although I hate the label, I'm a total skeptic of anything that gets broadcast by "the media" at large.

My two favorite sources for news and information online are the New York Times and the BBC. I check them daily so that I am up-to-date on what is happening in the world. I also listen to NPR in the car. I rarely watch local or cable news on TV because they condense issues into a sound-byte and there is a lack of in-depth coverage. The other problem is they tend to take a tabloid, or even worse, partisan approach.

I think my title says it all: I read the New York Times online almost every day. Oh, and my google reader is awesome. That's pretty much it for me!

I follow CNN and HNN on my twitter feed, and then I get the rest of my IMPORTANT info from Us Weekly. Parenting advice? I just email you and the rest of the posse.

isn't that nuts? i seem to get most of my breaking news from twitter. after that, i go to the new york times site.

I don't pay much attention to the news. If something catches my attention at Yahoo or from our local news station via email then I read it. Does that make me soooo out of touch?

anglocelta 5 pts

It's nytimes.com; I just find it the best overall viewpoint for what I want/need to know at any given time. Will I be willing to *pay* for it when they start charging for usage? We'll see...

I get most of my news from Twitter. I can jump in, scan down, and click on links that interest me. I'm not a big news junkie, so this works just fine for me.

www.voicesinmymind.com ( http://www.voicesinmymind.com ) - personal ramblings
www.gettingcrafty.com - craft projects and more
www.recipecorner.net - family recipes and quick-fix meals

I generally look at my local paper's online site as well as my MSN homepage. But I have developed a love for Pittsburgh after dating a guy from there for the past couple years. So for my Burgh updates this is my favorite site!!

My favorite online news sources include these:
http://www.npr.org/
http://news.bbc.co.uk/
http://www.washingtonpost.com/
http://www.nytimes.com/
and locals:
http://www.heraldextra.com/
http://www.deseretnews.com/home

But honestly? I get most of my news from the radio:
http://www.kuer.org/
http://www.kbyutv.org/

And when I have "parenting" issues, I turn to:
http://lds.org
and study the lives of my local blog friends, including you, C Jane.

I always start with Yahoo news (gasp!) but then I progress to other sources (MSNBC, Fox, Reuters, local papers.) If something is of particular interest, I google it and see what comes up. Usually I can get a variety of responses.

The two news sources on my google home page are Fox News and People magazine -- what a combo, right? LOL

I am a full-time working mom so I have found that listening to the NPR live stream at work helps me stay up to date. I almost always learn something!

jkmr1 5 pts

I am terrible about being up to date with world happenings. Most of what I know comes from blogs I read. This is actaully my first time on blogher, and I love it. I feel better read already.

amiedanny 5 pts

I know this seems generic, but all I have time to read is my Home Page on the internet, which happens to be MSN's home page. It has a mix of current events, sports news, celebrity news, and interesting side topics. I quick glance over that and I know where the latest news is happening, what newest celebrity is getting dumped, and who won NASCAR. :)

Melissa Dawn Stump Borchardt 5 pts

I purposely choose not to watch the local news as rarely they have any uplifting stories. Each morning while making the 15 mile trek to work in bumper to bumper traffic, I listen to National Public Radio (NPR). My friends think that I am too young to listen to NPR. Hell, I am 33 and have 3 kids. I am at the perfect age. I refuse to listen to local radio stations asking people to call in and tell them why they remain to be idiots. I check msnbc.com for headlines where I can choose which stores to click on and read. I go straight to the top for parenting advice, my mom.

Spyswife 5 pts

I get my news from the morning news show on TV, so I really don't do much online unless i am following a specific story. Then I tend to go directly to the websites of the local newspapers.

Hi C Jane!

I'm horrible with keeping up when it comes to news and politics. When I have time to catch up I peruse CNN.com and our local news sites such as the Asheville Citizen-Times and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Twice weekly our local town newspaper is published online and I'll check that out to catch up on local information. Our local radio station publishes the local news on their website so I can keep up with daily news of importance. Living in a smaller country town we don't have a lot of exciting stuff happen so it's not really hard to catch up. I do subscribe to CNN Breaking News as well as Washington Post Breaking News in the event something really major happens I get notice of that in my email.
As for baby updates I depend on my favorite blogs to give me the skinny on the newest fads and developments in the world of birthing and raising babies.

Honestly, BBC online is the least sensationalized source for US news that I've been able to find.

I'm ashamed to admit that my primary source for news is yahoo.com. It's set as my homepage so whatever headlines they deem important are what I click on. I try to read the newspaper or CNN.com, but I definitely rely on Yahoo for my minute to minute news dosage.

I have three news sources I depend on each day:

1) Canadian News - The Globe and Mail

2) American News - NY Times

3) Unbias International News - BBC News

Here's what I do: I have a multitude of websites that I go to, everything from the local county newspapers to CNN and Reuters. I keep all of my newswires neat and organized in Google reader, so that I can start my morning out with a cup of coffee and "the news." When I'm all done, I clear it out. That way, if I jump back on again in the afternoon, I know that the new things are items I haven't read yet. It works wonderfully!

"It's all about thyme!"

Hi C Jane!

As a news junkie, it's hard to pick just one, but I can see you're trying to help me by separating the categories :) Here goes:

- Politics: http://memeorandum.com

- News: http://www.reuters.com/

- Parenting: http://www.blogher.com/network/browse/87/all -- I literally don't go anywhere but blogs for advice about parenting any more, and I watch our listings for the new ones...
