I can make a cake and flowers but frosting it to make it look perfect is a whole different story.

Hmm, never thought about that before...I have a pretty cool cocoa mug that I really enjoy using. It's huge which means I can have twice the normal serving allotment of cocoa (a plus!) and it's pretty which makes me feel pampered.

Actually that's what we're having tonight. I have a cuisinart hand blender that I make Broccoli soup with and it is so good!

for dinner I often make dishes with garlic (for the antioxidant and antiinflammatory benefits) but I hate handling garlic. I recently bought an EZ roll garlic peeler which makes preparing the galic much easier. And yes, I did see the infomerical and I did buy the slap-chop!

My favorite breakfast gadget is an omelette maker that I have. It makes perfect omelettes and poached aggs and is easy to clean.

My favorite tool for summer desserts is my Hamilton Beach Ice Cream Maker. I like it because I can choose which flavors to make and incorporate almond milk into the ice cream, along with seasonal fruit.

My garlic press is seriously my favorite thing ever, because fresh garlic? Yummmmm.

I found this yellow plastic contraption at a kitchen store that opens jars by prying the lid to release the air...when I'm home alone and need a jar opened, that little yellow jar opener has saved my bacon many times. Best $1.99 I ever spent and it hangs in a place of honor on my refrigerator.

My S.O.'s favorite kitchen tool (and he does most of the cooking) is the SlapChop he bought me (ha!) for Christmas last year. He can mince a ton of garlic and lemongrass in about five seconds--great for his special stirfry.

My favorite kitchen tool is the lemon reamer. It doesn't take anything fancier than that pointy bit of wood to make great homemade lemonade!

My shiny, new, apple-green kitchen-aid mixer may be my new favorite.

However, it may not qualify because...well...it resides in the living room.

It looks pretty good there, I have to say, and we now have this reputation for cool pop art. But it's purely unintentional art if so.

I just have no room for it in the kitchen.

Does my favorite kitchen gadget have to have a proper kitchen zip code?

I am a HUGE fan of the Pampered Chef can strainer - wow! It's great, small, easy to use and super easy to clean. The one thing that I didn't like was that it wouldn't "fit" over larger cans, and tuna cans. Well...if you just flip that sucker over, you can actually put it INSIDE the can and still drain it! I can hear the "ooohhhhh's" now :) Great tool!

My 8in chefs knife, because its a symbol of the beginning of my journey in becoming a competent home cook. i'm not really there yet, but with the right tools and a little time i'll get there.

I don't drink coffee but our coffee maker is great for when we have guests. Everyone seems to enjoy coffee and it's a good way to relax after dinner and have conversations.

Mami2jcn 5 pts

My husband makes great mashed potatoes so I would say the potato peeler is pretty handy!

My fave kitchen tool is my box grater. It's perfect for shaving chocolate, cheese and veggies. It's so versatile!

My very favorite kitchen tool is sentimental - I have my grandfather's cast iron skillet. He became a single dad in 1934, and I imagine he got it about then. I use it a lot, my own parents used it a lot, and I like to think of all the eggs and potatoes and spaghetti sauces that it has served up over the years. I have many other tools in my well equipped kitchen, and am very fond of others as well, but this is the only item I own which belonged to any of my grandparents, so it is very meaningful. That it may continue to be useful for years and generations to come makes it a compelling choice.

Honestly, I tried to think of my favorite tool, and when it came down to it, it was my own two hands! Sure the mixer and knives are great, but when I'm really loving cooking, is when I'm mashing that dough down with my hands or rolling up some meat balls. I love the feeling of flour through my fingers and the goo of eggs being separated. Of course I'm sure to wash my hands or use gloves when necessary, but nothing beats my own two hands.

also a pair of stainless steel old tongs, but a pair I got a long time ago that fit my hand just so, and I can't find another pair like them!

My old hand held mixer my mom gave me. It looks like it was made in the seventies. It's old and out of date but I love it!

But I have to say my Microplane zester is probably the favorite, as I use A LOT of lemon zest and ginger

I now have two, the larger one works well for grating cheese and shaving chocolate

I couldn't live without my old iron skillets. They cook more evenly than new frying pans, plus they will never wear out. Two of my skillets belonged to my grandfather. I just wish I was as good in the kitchen as he was!

My favorite knife! I have a favorite from my knife set that I use almost everytime.

My favorite kitchen tool is my pizza stone. I use it for homemade pizza's,frozen pizza's, cookies, fries. I just told my hubby the other day that if my stone broke I would probably cry. My daughter always tells me that my homemade pizza's are the best, I have to give all the credit to my stone!

I have random thoughts about lots.

NCBelle36 5 pts

actually isn't a tool at all. It's my dishcloths. I keep one close by anytime I'm in the kitchen and always clean as I go/cook so it doesn't take too long to clean up afterward.

NCBelle36 5 pts

My favorite kitchen tool without a doubt would have to be my microwave. How in the world did we ever cook or live without them? I use mine multiple times every day and would be completely lost in the kitchen without it.

I love my mandoline! I use it for cheese, raw veggies for filling quesadillas and grilled cheese, onions and lettuce for sandwiches. It makes everything so fast and I still get a bit of an arm workout!

I find recipes that use nutmeg on purpose just so I can have a reason to zest those giant nutmegs. Sometimes I just zest a bit, and then smell it. Mmm.

My kitchen is seriously lacking in fancy kitchen tools, but my favorites (as another person posted) are my cutting boards. I use them so many times every day.
The second would be my mini blender.

It is a tough choice between the flat bottom whisk my sister brought me from Paris or my scale.

I use both whenever I make a batch of gluten-free sourdough bread or muffins, or cookies or pastry.
Can I admit to twin tools, fraternal of course?

My favorite kitchen tool is the $4.99 7 inch knife I bought from Ikea. It cuts way better than the 200.00 Henkel knives I bought in the past! The 2.00 Ikea knife sharpener kicks butt too!

I will have to say my nutmeg grater. I now put at least a touch of freshly grated nutmeg into just about everything I bake. It's that little something that makes everything taste better.
