As a child, the most memorable trip was a venture to Yellowstone. I was 16 and I think it was my last family vacation before I had summer jobs and moved out for college.

We took one every year when I was a kid. I think the one to Yellowstone (LOVED geysers)was a highlight. Or maybe my 2yo sister falling off a dock into a lake in MN. Or my mom smacking a car at a stoplight in MS. My brother throwing up in the car in the Smoky Mts from carsickness (the year the song "Candy Man" was big!--STILL hate that song). Started my love of the Rockie Mtns on one (and we've instilled that in the next generation). I remember these things like they were yesterday, tho all were at least 35 years ago!

My most memorable road trip was with my true love. We went to Savannah, GA and we loved it there. There was good food, lots of nice things to see and his company is always the best.

When our oldest daughter was a baby, my husband and I visited family friends in Northern CA. We decided to take the scenic view home and we drove along the coast. Our daughter screamed for the entire ride! She did not want to be in her car seat. We tried getting out and letting her get distracted by other things, but as soon as she saw her car seat, she started up again.

When I was in my early 20s my friend and I took a road trip to New Mexico. Suffice to say, I don't remember most of the trip, but it was still a blast!

My most memorable road trip was driving cross-country (Los Angeles to Alabama) in a tiny, two-seater car. We actually started off flying to LA from Hawaii, so it was a very LONG, cramped trip. We couldn't pack much clothing to fit in the tiny car's tiny trunk, and the weather kept changing as we moved across the country. It was a real adventure, and I'm glad I did it when I was much younger than I am today. ;-)

My most memorable car trip was when I was 17 and my boyfriend and I at the time drove from New York to North Carolina and I ended up getting a speeding ticket. It was my first ticket, my first time to North Carolina, my first time seeing the ocean. Overall, an incredible trip :)

I've begun planning our next big trip. Another family and ours will travel to a major theme park for afew days of fun & sun. The coordination, so far, is going well and I relly expect that it will all be fin. It's the unexpected that makes it an adventure.

The second summer after we were married my husband and I drove from the middle of the country out West to Washington State. Stopping at every outlet mall along the way! LOL. Actually seeing Old Faithful was an extremely memorable time.

When I was a teen, my parent's took us on a trip all through the South. We went to battle grounds, scenic places and even up in the St. Louis Arch. We had our travel trailer and camped at amazingly beautiful places and were gone for 2 weeks. I will never forget!

I love road trips! My most recent was a trip down Route 66 to Albuquerque - filled with fun, laughter and GREAT food!

Cross country trip form Texas to North Carolina. I was getting deployed to Korea, and I needed to take my car home. My aunt flew down to help me drive, and it was a total nightmare. She was obnoxious, rude, and just plain boring. She didn't talk the whole way.

My most memorable road trip was my parents taking my sister and I to Disneyland and they fought most of the way there, we had to say at a very run down motel with a dry pool, my camera didn't work correctly and Disneyland was hours and hours of just standing in line!

Our latest road trip was a drive through Arizona and Utah to Zion National Park. We stayed just outside the park at a beautiful campground and cabin "resort." We enjoyed lots of nice hikes and other fun activities. A day trip to Bryce National Park was also interesting -- great views and rock formations.

I have a couple memorable trips...both memorable in bad ways. One was in high school when my mom, my aunt, my sister, and my 2 cousins drove to Colorado from WI to visit our uncle. My youngest cousin was horrible the whole way. Any time it was his turn to sit in the back seat he would whine about getting sucked into the "black hole"...meaning the seat crack. It was the longest drive ever!

My most memorable road trip was the one I took with sorority sisters to get to another sorority sister's wedding. It was a turning point for all of us who were once close friends and now have grown apart. We learned a lot about each other and ourselves.

My most memorable trip was when my family took a trip to Disney World. It was a long trip and we didn't have air conditioning but we were so excited to be going to Disney World, we spend time in the car playing games and reading.

Oh man, the time we drove from California to Minnesota and back. On the way back we could NOT find a hotel so had to drive staright through. Hubby was driving but got so tired I took over and I had such a hard time staying awake. It was murder but I knew even if we pulled over we wouldn't be able to sleep.

When I was a junior in high school, my best friend and I went college hunting together. We drove all around the state looking at colleges. While one of us was driving, the other one read aloud from one of the many books we had to read for a class that semester. To this day, I always associate Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with college hunting! I still look back very fondly on those days!

My Mother and I drove the coast of California for 1 week with no plan. We had a few sights we wanted to see and everything else including where we stayed was up in the air. It was amazing.

At age 7 my family took a road trip to florida. It took forever to get there & our car kept breaking down. I got sick and thru up my spaghetti dinner in the Holiday inn pool. It was the worst trip I ever was on! In fact, once we did get to disney world it rained the entire time and rides were shut down.

My most memorable road trip was a trip to the funeral of an uncle, followed by a long drive to a prospective customer for a software demo. This totaled about 30 hours of driving. Lots of time to think, lots of things to think about.

A few years ago I won a few nights lodging and meals for a hotel in Deadwood, South Dakota. I had always wanted to visit there but my family was tied up with jobs and school so I asked two friends from work to go with me. I rented a car (it only had 25 miles on the odometer) and we took our time driving from Omaha to Deadwood. We squeezed in every possible attraction both on the way and after we arrived. We even managed a trip to Wyoming to see Devil's Tower. We hit a rain storm so heavy I couldn't see the road and got hail damage on the rental car.
We were totally exhausted when we returned home just 4 days later. I never laughed so much in my life as on that trip.
After only one day home I took the rental car and drove to Arkansas to visit my mother. By the time I turned in the car I had put 2500 miles on it in less than 3 weeks.

In college, the first road trip I went on without my parents was a trip to Canada. Most of my peers went to cancun or Florida for spring break, but not us! Somehow we got the idea that it would be cheaper to spend our vacation there because my roomate's French bf's sister was studying there and we had a free place to crash.
It was comical because the entire ride there we progressively became colder and colder. We weren't dressed properly so we ended up having to buy coats there, thereby eliminating much of the cost advantage of visiting Canada over warmer climes.
Good times!

Was when we would drive into the country, so to speak, to visit our cousins. We grew up in an urban area so it seemed like civilization as we knew it would slip away the farther we drove. Instead of asphalt and concrete the landscape gave way to trees and foliage and an occaisional deer to delight our young eyes.

Going from southern Georgia to Atlanta with my college roomate and some friends. We had a blast doing things young people do-being silly, singing to the radio, waving at strangers. Those were some of the best times in my life.

My most memorable road trip was driving through Honduras in a beat-up pick-up truck with my sister. It was a really stupid thing for us to do by ourselves, but we were young and, yes, stupid!

My family traveled a lot when I was growing up, so after a while, I got pretty jaded about road trips. In 1987, though, I wanted to go to Los Angeles to the Star Wars 10th Anniversary Convention and driving was going to be cheaper than flying. My mom didn't want me going all that way alone (I was 21), so she said she'd go with me. We took a week to get out there, stopping along the way to Remember the Alamo, spend a half-day in Mexico, visit the OK Corral, and take photos of every cactus in Saguaro National Park. In L.A., we did Disneyland and Universal Studios and visited the mall from "Back to the Future." On the way back, we went to Tatooine (Death Valley, where they filmed some scenes for the movie), the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. It was a wonderful experience, and I wish I could say that I bonded with my mom more, but I wanted to listen to my music a lot of the time. Still, it's one of my very best memories.

Picture an egg on wheels (otherwise known as my aunt's small, red Fiat). Add three adults, two teens and a cocker spaniel with a Napoleonic complex. Mix in chain smoking on the part of one of the adults. Top this off with a "I want to be in the front seat" attitude from the cocker spaniel who was in the back but trying to advance to the front AND his salivating and hot panting breath. We spent a week travelling on the west coast of france in the egg with this cast of characters. Funny, at times annoying, but oh so memorable.

Family car trip to California and back. Lots of fighting with brothers, hot, almost got left in another state, camping every night, ticks. It was a long yet fun trip.

I decided to hit a road trip right out of high school in my volkswagon rabbit. I was visiting friends I had met previously on the east coast. In Denver, my battery died and I had to jumpstart it every time I got gas.... but I forgot to get the oil changed on the way and the car blew in Alabama. No fun, I had to take the bus back home!

On a road trip with two friends, we lost a headlight. Finished the drive by pointing a flashlight at the road.

When my husband and I got married we bought a new car and drove from AZ (where we lived) to MO (where we got married). Someone busted out our back window so we were really late getting started back home, then we hit some debris on the road and had to get a new transmission. We had to book it home at a top speed of 60mph (because of the transmission) and since I came down with a terrible flu my husband had to drive the whole way straight through. We made it home just in time for the honeymoon though and had a wonderful time!
