Her passions include food, writing, bike riding, vintage clothes shopping, and decorating her home. She loves social media, volunteerism, and a really dirty martini.

fresh strawberries in season and whip cream on top. Fresh -from the farmer's market is the best. Frozen doesn't quite cut it.

I have a sweet tooth, so I usually reach for fruit. A banana isn't the lowest calorie snack, true, but it's better than a bowl of ice cream!

There are tons of healthy options for snacks on the market today and always have been. Some of my favorites are granola mixed into vanilla yogurt, a hard-boiled egg, raisins, apples and any kind of fresh fruit actually. As for my daughter - who is 7 - I give her the same things I eat. She loves knowing what's going into her body is healthy and natural. We don't add anything to our snacks that isn't healthy for us. And everything is in moderation - no overdoing it.

I'm following Weight Watchers now so I try to have snacks on hand for those times I'm craving something to fill me up between meals. The trick is to preplan for those times and I usually bring home the fixings for salads at the grocery store and prepackage some containers of ready-to-eat salad in the refrigerator so I can just grab one and add dressing when I'm hungry. If I have to cut tomatoes and cucumbers before I eat, I'm likely to pass up a salad and grab a cookie instead...so I make sure everything is ready-to-eat so I choose healthy instead.

I also have my own "snack box" that I fill with low-fat cereal bars and 100 calorie snacks.

If I'm just bored, I break out the microwave popcorn. It takes forever to eat (one piece at a time because I'm not an animal) so it gives me something to do.

If I'm really hungry I'll have some cheese and whole wheat crackers because it fills me up and gives me some dairy.

If I need sweets I reach for a Lara bar - especially the jocolat or apple pie one.

If I'm at my mom's house (shut up, she loves when my 40 year old butt raids the fridge) I have some fruit or cut up veggies because she actually eats healthy.

My favorite choices for a healthy snack:

Edy's Fruit Bars - only 60-80 calories each depending on flavor, often have 25% vitamin C, and no fat.
