Spending time with family was really nice.

I miss that feeling of pure bliss as soon as school let out, knowing I had months before school started up. I felt so free!

There was nothing like going swimming at Shoreline Park when I was a kid!! Best times ever!

I miss playing outside all day with my friends until the street lights came on. We also would camp outside overnight in the backyard with the neighborhood kids.

I loved going to summer camps when I was young! Fingers crossed! Thanks! senekers@comcast.net

Oh, road trips were absolute misery when we were young. Traipsing all over the South in a station wagon with no air conditioning all summer. Getting dragged to art fairs and staying at little roadside motels where the owner asked you out back to share watermelon with his grandchildren. Misery I tell you...when you are 7. Not such miserable memories now...

We used to hang out a lot in the summer with other kids in the neighborhood. I grew up in a small town and we knew everyone. Nowadays, I'm raising kids in a nice suburb, but I don't know all that many of my neighbors, and I don't feel safe letting the kids be gone for long periods of time. That's what I miss, the feeling of safety.

I Miss going on a lot of day trips ( and weekend trips) with my parents. I actually really liked all the historical places that we went! Like Gettysberg, Jamestown, Roanoke, Williamsberg, etc...

Playing in the sprinklers and drinking out of the hose without any fear of lead or other hose-water dangers.

Since I live in the desert, I miss almost nothing about summer. In fact, I look forward to it's end. The heat is horrible, just came off a week of temps around 115. For month upon month our temps hit well beyond 100 degrees and the nights do not cool down as they hover around 90 degrees. Ugh!

I miss playing kick the can every night during the summer. My favorite hiding spot was a tree with branches low enough to climb up. I still evaluate trees by the low, strong branches.

I miss playing with my siblings and we would pack a light lunch and go exploring in the woods. Lots of fun

my sister and I loved to skip, we skipped everywhere. A few years ago while watching my friends daughter we skipped down the road, wow, very tiring!

I miss not beling able to play in the yard. Things are more complicated now.

I miss the way we were able to play as kids. We could play all around the neighborhood and not worry about anything. You have to keep an eagle eye on kids now adays. It's a shame that they loose all of that thanks to sickos.

mizztara71 5 pts

Playing with old friends and relatives.

My parents were always the parents who would play with the kids! My dad had an artificial leg but that didn't stop him. We played wiffel ball, kick ball, soccer, and tag in our back yard. He wold also take a carload of us to the high school so he could baseballs so everyone could practice their catching.

I miss how I looked forward to it! Since it would be our break from school. But now I don't look forward to it because it's way too hot!

I miss the fun and thrill of nightswimming in my family's backyard pool - my sister, cousins, and I would make a regular event out of swimming after dark, and I recall fondly the silly (and sometimes serious) conversations we'd have as we beat the summer night heat.

What I will miss most about summer is when we all go out and pick blueberries and strawberries. There is nothing sweeter than warm blueberries and strawberries, just picked.

I miss spending most of my time at the swimming pool. I was part fish. Thanks for the contest.

My dad was in the military, and I didn't get to visit every summer, but I loved when I could. My maternal grandparents lived on the water, so I got to swim and go fishing. They almost always had a dog and/or a cat, and for a while they had ducks. My grandmother would give me chores and pay for them, so I could earn spending money. I never minded cleaning at her house because it came with a paycheck! They had both been teachers, so they had a lot of old children's books, and I'd be able to spend time reading, as well as playing outdoors (for a while, my cousins lived nearby). We'd play Aggravation a lot, too. I really miss those days.
