I recently stumbled across something called "101 Things in 1,001 Days", stemming from this site - which I recommend visiting for all the details. As an AVID list-maker, it immediately peaked my interest. Here was something that fills the void in which the other lists in my life do not fill. Most of my lists are on a daily/weekly basis, but rarely anything much more long term. I remember trying to put together one of those "Life Lists" that are a bit Chicken Soup for the Soul, but nothing ever really came of it.
I think I was so drawn to this idea because it's not set for a yearly calendar. You can begin at any time you want. You set your own goals & your own rules for yourself for not completing tasks. I have seen other's lists where they donate $ for each task uncompleted to their favorite charity at the end of the line. The important part (& the most difficult) is to BE SPECIFIC. I've been struggling not to write down anything vague like "do yoga" or "drink more water". Instead substituting tasks like "Submit something to be published" & "Watch all movies nominated in an Oscar category I usually ignore" - which, let's admit ...are much more of a conversation starter.
It reinstates the true value of setting a goal for yourself - it must be measurable. & therefore, attainable!
I must admit, I only have 28 things on my list so far, but I'm so excited to work on it more - to find the tangible things that I want for myself in the next few years. I will try to post it when I complete it. You haven't heard the last of me!

Love Hate
I have a love/hate relationship with my 101 things in 1001 days list, probably because I've got around 200 days left to go and haven't managed to scratch off much of anything.
I think Zan, our Singles editor, has done a far better job with her 101/1001.
Having said that, I'll probably create another list once I hit the deadline. It's been an interesting experiment for me.
