I spied this great BlogHer thread started by Ashley of the light(er) side of growing up, "20-something Bloggers," and I thought I'd crash around the blogs listed and see if I'd find some great sex & relationships posts by 20-somethings.
What, are you kidding? Of course I did!
My favorite is take me to the river, drop me in the water by PiousCoy.
"I was feeling pretty rotten about some aspects of myself, when I lowered my toes into the cool concrete pool. The water circled my feet and I emerged them further, my calves causing quiet ripples to roll across the water. A calm came over me as I dropped my freckled legs in. My personality was suddenly exalted, no longer heavy and all the woes drained from my mind, down my body, and into 5 feet of blue, blue water. The water let me drain.
The healing element of water."
She lists her "cleansing memories of water," and they are beautiful.
Next, I found a pair of posts by a couple of bloggers who forged their friendship over the internet.
Clink from Such Great Heights says There's Something About Molly:
"However, over time, Molly has become so much more than the just photo of multi-colored shoes. She has become a friend. Molly knows what I really look like and that is huge for me, Little Miss Anonymity. She knows M’s first and last name and she knows my first and last name and she knows what my friends look like and she knows where I work and she knows that my sister told me to lose weight before I even posted it on the blog.
She’s crossed the invisible line I drew for myself when I started this blog business. I was intent on keeping everyone out, intent on keeping my readers at an arm’s length because I didn’t want anything or anyone to compromise my anonymity."
And meanwhile...
Molly from These Little Moments calls them Thelma and Louise:
"If I was single again, I think I would try online dating. Filling out a profile of likes and dislikes, finding that odd person that loves eating icing out of the container with a spoon just as much as you do? Sounds good to me.
I’ve always thought that there should be an online matching system for friendship. Much like online dating, you could find a friend who hates her thighs, loves bad TV and will reassure you that you’re hot even after you’ve eaten another burrito.
Well, I found her."
Speaking of friendship, Amanda Rose from Little White Liar has a great tale about reconnecting with her best friend after moving to Sydney, Australia. It's called, The plot (and the accent) thicken.
"The first night that I was here, her accent slipped backward. After living on-and-off for four years in the States, New York has a way of slipping into the mouth. The longer we we together, the more severe it became. Her friends noticed. Boys noticed. They said, "Where are you guys from?" She answered, "We're both from New York." She laughs, tosses her beautiful blonde head, and turns right back into the New York spotlight she had abandoned."
A quickie to bring us back to the romance: Carolyn from Pink Ukulele declares, We are, like, so married right now! And I love her wedding pics.
And finally, Cecile from Cecile Weekly essays, This could both be a hospital or heaven:
"Not really conscious of doing so I open my eyes. A ray of white light forms a neat line, seemingly cutting my surroundings in two, illuminating the space around me. I realize I am awake and slowly become aware of my feelings. Both pain and immense happiness take hold of my body. Like a giant metronome that has possessed my body the focus constantly switches between the pain and the happiness, pain, happiness, pain, happiness…
Considering my senses this could both be a hospital or heaven."
