3 Lessons Entrepreneurs Can Learn From "Frozen"

Even though it came out right around Thanksgiving last year, I can’t quite seem to “let it go” when it comes to the Disney film Frozen just yet. It can be pretty easy to dismiss Disney films as being for kids only, but these movies pack a pretty powerful punch when it comes to teaching lessons about friendship, family, and leadership.
In Frozen especially, I noticed that were a handful of lessons that every entrepreneur can take away and use in their own lives as business owners.
1) When it comes to your strong suits, think before you act.
The crown princess of Arendelle, Elsa, had the magical ability to create ice and snow where there was none. But after accidentally injuring her sister Anna, Elsa had to work on concealing her powers, which could easily flare up and become out of control when she was upset, hurting the people around her and creating an eternal winter for the kingdom.
For entrepreneurs, it’s a pretty similar story. We all have our strengths for going into business and know how to play off of them. But it’s important to think before acting out; whether that includes carefully reading the fine print on a contract before signing or figuring out if that cheap storefront is really the best location for the new business.
2) Don’t take on a partner too quickly.
On the day of Elsa’s coronation, her younger sister, Anna, meets and falls head over heels for a prince named Hans. So much so that when he asks her to marry him that same day, she quickly accepts and tries to convince Elsa that this is a good idea.
New and established entrepreneurs alike get it. It can be really easy to jump into a partnership with another brand without really knowing that potential partner inside and out. Spend a little time together first to see what both companies can bring to the table to benefit each other. Meet their team members on a few lunch dates and email on outlining partnership goals together before committing to anything major first.
3) Take care of your team, and they’ll return the favor.
In a lot of ways, this mirrors pretty much all of the characters in the film from Kristoff and his reindeer, Sven, to Anna’s relationship with Elsa and even Elsa’s act of keeping the snowman Olaf from melting once summer returns.
If an entrepreneur treats his or her team members with respect and encourages them an open flow of communication, the team will return the favor and your entire company will reflect that positive working environment and energy forward!
