4th of July Dessert

Heading to a potluck tonight and I wanted to bring a festive dessert.  I bought strawberries, blueberries and an angel food cake, and made a little cheesecake dipping sauce.  It's healthy with a side of decadence.

Strawberries

Blueberries

Angel food cake

Shallow pan (10" x 15" shown above)

Dipping sauce:

1/2 cup sugar

zest and juice of 1/2 to 1 orange

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

Dissolve the sugar in the zest/juice over medium heat.  Once the mixture starts to boil, remove from heat and let cool.  Combine cream cheese and cooled sugar mixture.  Beat with hand mixture or in blender until smooth.

Arrange strawberries and angel food cubes into alternating stripes.  Place blueberries in top left corner.

Dipping sauce can be placed on the side or in the pan.
