I have a last-minute invite to a holiday party. How can I look my best quickly?
If you have 5 minutes, you can look divine in no time.
This low side bun is one of the easiest and quickest hairstyles to create and works perfectly for various occasions. It can go from a messy, bohemian look to a sleek and pretty updo simply depending on the way you secure it and style it. For this particular tutorial, the goal is a quick and easy holiday hairstyle that literally takes five minutes or less to do.
What You Need
Large and small bobby pins
Hairspray
A pretty barrette or pin for a final holiday touch
Happy Holiday Hair!

Very pretty. I have shorter hair (about shoulder length, just a smidge longer). I wonder if it would work with mine? Got any "growing out" hair style tips?
Gorgeous. My hair is long, I'm wondering if I could do the same thing but braid it beforehand? Like a messy, side swept braid that is tucked up into a bun?
My suggestion? A sock bun. I just learned this trick and it's perfect for a sophisticed (and quick!) updo that you don't have to worry about (i.e. no bobby pins or hairspray involved!). Check my post about it here: http://www.shoppingdetox.com/2011/12/day-342-5-min...
annabellehepburn Tried it. Looked fabulous for 20 minutes. Then all my layers fell out and I was all sock and no bun. So.... the trick is to get lucky inside of 20 minutes. You're welcome :)
With shorter hair & layers, try using a smaller sock (i.e. a kid's sock or a baby sock) It'll be a bit smaller, but should stay put better! I have also had success using the end of an old pair of tights!
