6 Easy Ways to Make Your Bedroom a Romantic Oasis

If you're married or in a long term relationship, the romance department can get pushed aside. With work, kids and everything in between, finding the time to enjoy each others' company can be close to non-existent. And when the idea of a weekend getaway or a trip abroad is out of the question, there's only one other thing that you can do to spice up your relationship.

The solution to your nagging romantic life is to turn your ordinary bedroom to a romantic oasis of love. Yes, that's right - your own bedroom. Wouldn't it be fantastic to end your day cuddling with your loved one while also in the comforts of your own home? Here are 6 easy ways to turn your drab bedroom into a romantic “getaway”.

1. Before you start rearranging your furniture and adding other things to make your room more romance-inducing, you need to get rid of a few things. GET RID of bills, papers from work, your laptop, and even the kids. DO NOT bring your office to your room, otherwise, you'll be distracted by how much work you still need to do. And leave the kids to their rooms - any time with the kids is not romance time - it's family time. And turn off your cellphones, too. Your room should only focus on you and your partner - no one and nothing else.

2. De-clutter. Do you have laundry lying around? Or books and magazines on the floor? Well, get rid of them and store them out of sight. Make your room as simple and as spacious as possible. Do not let objects distract you or your partner. Clean up and organize your things.

3. Once you get rid of your office stuff, the kids, pets, and organized your things, now's the time to spice things up. Place a carpet below the edge of the bed and throw some pillows there, too. You can sit on the floor talking and cuddling before you hit the bed. You can also place a small table and two chairs in the middle of the room so you can have a private candle-lit dinner. Or place a daybed by the window where you can watch the stars in each others' arms. Add a piece or two of furniture that's meant to invite cuddling and embracing.

4. Prepare romantic music by placing speakers to your laptop or iPod. Set the mood by making a playlist of romantic love songs or songs that remind you of your first date.

5. Dim the lights. You can use candles, lamps, or even place lights above your bed. Let these tiny little lights add to the private and romantic vibe of your bedroom - setting the scene for an intimate night of romance.

6. And lastly, prepare some food and drinks to get your mood going. Place a small refrigerator in the room and stock it with wine and chocolate.

Taking the time each day to show your loved one how special they are doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. If your intimate moments are dwindling down, you don't need to complain about it. Simply take the effort to make your very own bedroom a romantic oasis to keep the spark alive.
