The stars were out Sunday afternoon for the 63rd Primetime Emmy® Awards in their fancy tuxes, gorgeous gowns and borrowed jewels, makeup just-so, trying desperately not to break a sweat under the hot California sun. But I'm sure they'd prefer the heat to the rain. The red carpet was swirling with reds, nudes, shimmer and a few bright colors here and there. Hair, jewelry, & accessories were kept simple and had an almost casual feeling like nothing was too overdone. It was classy, Old Hollywood meets modern, and I loved it.
My picks for Best Dressed...
1. Maria Bello in Kaufmanfranco just looked stunning to me.
2. Minka Kelly in Christian Dior, 3. Elisabeth Moss in Marchesa
Runners up...
Though it seemed a bit too tight, I liked Amy Poehler's midnight blue Peter Som dress. It was so different from what she normally does and looked quite chic. Gwyneth Paltrow's lace Pucci dress was gorgeous, though the cut-out-look midsection made her look like she had a roll, which we all know she doesn't and was unfortunately unflattering.
Trending Color: Red...
I must admit, while these ladies looked ravishing in red, wearing red on the red carpet just seems wrong. It's too much. You can't tell where the dress ends and the carpet begins.

Quite a few bold, bright and beautifully vibrant gowns walked the red carpet tonight which I thought was a nice to see among all the red and nudes.

I can't really put my finger on it but the large bow ties around these handsome mugs just had a fresher and more modern look and feel than the regular ties.

I was pleasantly surprised by...
1. Kelly Osbourne wearing a J Mendel deep purple dress and a bit of a silvery hair-do to match. 2. Martha Plimpton also in a deep burgundy/plum beaded Elie Saab gown dress. Both looked stunning I thought.
3. Julianne Hough and 4. Rashida Jones both pretty in soft peachy-pink!

My picks for Worst Dressed...
1. Julianna Margulies In Armani Privé takes the cake for worst dress! How did she manage to keep those ice cubes from melting? They look like clear leeches! I mean, she must have chosen the dress knowing she'd be on the worst dressed list! It would have been an okay dress without the leeches.
