The 64th Annual Emmy Awards In Tweets: Did You Watch?

BlogHer Original Post

Awards shows in the post-Twitter world are like an entirely different animal. In the old days, we'd sit around with appetizers and ballot cards, talking to humans, dishing on dresses and snubs. Nowadays, I find myself dreaming of that smart TV that we keep hearing about, because really, without picture-in-picture of my Twitter stream in the telecast, it's just not a complete experience.

If you weren't following along on Twitter during last night's 64th Annual Emmy Awards (and really, why weren't you?) here are a few of [my personal] highlights, from both celebrities and real people.

It was hot as Hades here in LA yesterday with my car thermometer clocking in at 103 degrees at lunchtime, so I'm guessing it was an easy 90 downtown come Emmy time - probably worse on that pressure cooker they call the read carpet ...

But like all great things, the red carpet must come to an end, although I did enjoy watching celebs try not to melt. The show kicked off with a pretty solid opening sketch featuring the comedy ladies of the moment (props to Lena Dunham for rocking a blurry box and a birthday suit), and we were on our way.

Boobs were a running theme last night --

There were upsets...

And Seth MacFarlane --

Amy Poehler proved she should host --

Kimmel pulled a practical joke by asking twitter to hike his ratings:

...which ultimately kind of went nowhere. So we went back to bad beauty bingo and dishing on the stars --
