We’ve all been there. Unsolicited beauty advice from someone who’s
trying to be helpful. The friend. The hairdresser. The
mother-in-law. But what about when their counsel is just plain…wrong?
Here are seven of the most ludicrous statements the BeautyXpose staff has heard personally within the past few months:
1. If you eat too much salt and drink too much alcohol, you’ll
definitely get pimples right in between your eyes (your “wine and dine”
area).2. If you use drugstore brands for skin care, you must be a teenager (no self-respecting adult would use those products).
3. If you pull your eyelids taut when applying eyeliner, you’re going to get crow’s feet.
4. If you try to dye your hair yourself, it will turn orange and
you’ll have to spend thousands of dollars on professional color
correction.5. If you have pimples on your chin, you should ask your doctor
to check if you have benign ovarian cysts the next time you get a pap
smear.6. If you don’t use SPF every day (and makeup doesn’t count at all), you’ll need plastic surgery by the time you’re 40.
7. If you shave your “hair down there,” you’ll have ingrown hairs for 14 years.
Weigh in: What bad beauty advice have you been given?
