7 Family Travel Blogs That Will Inspire You to Pack Your Bags

BlogHer Original Post

Happy summer vacation season! I'm currently on vacation with my family right now, enjoying my multi-generational beach vacation and relaxing as much as one can with eleven billion relatives in two beach houses. Before I left on vacation, I sought out some great family travel blogs for this week's Must-Follow Monday. I'm glad I looked at some of these before we hit the roads with the kids. Check them out!

Must Follow Monday

Bring the Kids

If you use the "but it's so hard to travel with kids" line as an excuse as to why you don't vacation, you need to read this blog. Jessica and Andrew have six kids and don't use them as an excuse. The site features everything from specific location reviews to tips on camping with kids and more. Oh, and way cute pictures.

Houseful of Nicholes

Houseful of Nicholes is another blog that puts the "you can't travel if you have more than one kid" excuse to shame. Natasha and her husband also have four children and find all kinds of things to do. In fact, if you are visiting Branson, Missouri, you need to read her travel section.

Autistic Globetrotting

Margalit Francus writes an amazing blog about traveling with her two teen sons, one of whom is on the autistic spectrum. Her site has everything from hotel reviews to food recommendations to interviews to reviews of things that make travel easier. If you have a child with autism, you may want to read devour her section on Autism and the Travel Industry.

Family, Food, and Travel

Kerrie Mendoza (who will also be working at the Geek Bar at BlogHer '14) is a serious traveler. She's been to 28 countries and dreams of taking her children, twin boys, to every continent in the world. Her page dedicated to travel tips and reviews is extensive and a must read!

Adventurous Moms

Kendra and Jen, the blog writer wife of these two adventurous moms, have a wonderful site full of travel and fun. They have three kids and they're always doing something. I love that they have a sense of humor too, as made evident in a post titled, "6 Reasons Our Hike with the Kids Was an Epic Fail." I mean, if you can't laugh at yourself, who are you going to laugh at? Also, I want to go on a hike with them. Maybe not that hike though.

Studio Jema

I adore Jema. In 2011, she and her husband set off in an RV with their four kids to travel and life their life together on the road. I have loved following the family around the country, listening to their stories, and learning about life through Jema's beautiful words and photos. However, they just recently had the scariest ride of their lives. They're okay, but you have to read that post. Goodness.

OutsideMom.com

Lindsey at OutsideMom.com is an environmental educator. Her husband is a biologist. Needless to say, they like the outdoors. They've got lots of ideas for taking kids outside, from camping tips to making a transportable rope swing. Uh, awesome much? Also, the photography on this blog is stunning. Stunning!
