About BlogHer

What will you find here?

At BlogHer.com, you’ll find the best conversations led by women in social media. A curated selection of authentic voices. Life well said.

BlogHer is a community and media company created in partnership with women in social media. Lisa Stone, Elisa Camahort Page and Jory Des Jardins founded BlogHer in 2005 in response to the question, “Where are all the women bloggers?”

Today, BlogHer is the largest community of women who blog: 37 million unique visitors per month (December 2011, Nielsen Site Census). Engaged, influential and info-savvy, these women come to BlogHer to seek and share advice, opinions and recommendations. BlogHer’s team works hard to bring you the best and brightest conversations, writers and speakers – online and in person. That’s what we do best.

We host:

  • BlogHer Conferences, the world’s largest conference for women in social media
  • BlogHer Publishing Network, with 3,000 blogs one of the largest and highest quality publishing networks of blogs authored by women
  • BlogHer.com, the Web’s leading guide to the hottest news and trends among women in social media, renown as a community where women speak their minds on every topic from politics to parenting in an atmosphere of integrity and respect
  • BlogHer is run by its three co-founders and a team of 50+ employees via offices in New York and Silicon Valley. We are proud to have venture backing from Venrock, the GE/NBC Universal's Peacock Equity Fund and Azure Capital Partners.

Welcome. We’d love to hear from you.

    What’s different about BlogHer?

As reading habits change, BlogHer recognizes readers want to connect with the writers who deliver their news, commentary and entertainment.

BlogHer’s contributing editors, writers and reviewers are approachable and responsive to readers. And, the BlogHer community will be there for you if you post or comment on BlogHer.com. You’ll find writers responding – both in the comments on their own posts and in discussions using other social media – furthering the conversation long after their posts go live on BlogHer.com.

BlogHer’s members are able to engage at this level for a few reasons:

  • BlogHer’s community guidelines demand all participants will remain civil and respectful at all times. Name-calling and hate speech are not tolerated here, which gives women the freedom to write what they would be afraid to write elsewhere.
  • BlogHer’s writers have insight into the areas they write about. Our writers are real women living in the real world, dealing with the same issues our readers face every day.
  • BlogHer’s atmosphere – both at the conferences and on BlogHer.com – is inclusive. BlogHer is nonpartisan (though its members are not). BlogHer doesn’t discriminate against or censor diverse viewpoints. Writers and commenters understand that civil disagreement is the only way to disagree at BlogHer.
  • How can you get involved in the conversation?

It depends on who you are and what you want from your relationship with BlogHer.

  • Writers can create a profile and begin posting to BlogHer immediately (following the community guidelines).
  • Readers can enjoy great writing on almost any subject -- both on BlogHer.com and by perusing more than 22,000 blogs in the BlogHer Blog Directory.
  • Reviewers can join our review program (e-mail jenny@blogher.com) and participate in some of the most exciting campaigns in the blogosphere.
  • Advertisers can sponsor conversations on BlogHer.com or get in touch with qualified, targeted audiences via more than 3,000 publishing network blogs.
  • So what are you waiting for? We’d love to hear from you.
