Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter

While I like a good retelling of a story and I was amused by Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies I didn't go on to read his other books. I like some campy goodness but I wasn't so sure about Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

When it was announced that it was going to be a movie I was still a bit meh about it but then I saw the trailer.

Campy goodness. In 3-D! I am guessing that some hot summer day when all I want to do is sit in a air conditioned movie theatre, eat nachos and watch something fun with lots of explosions I'll be going to see this one.

What do you think?

Lincoln and vampires - intriguing mix!  Will wait to see the movie on dvd.  But will probably read the book in the mean time.

I think this is going to be fun!

victorias_view Me too. I heard very mixed reviews of the book so it wasn't something I was particularly paying attention to but it's a good trailer. I think the movie will be fun.

I had the book in my hand once and I just put it down....But I think the movie could be fun! sassymonkey

Whoa...Have to research this...under rock...hadn't heard of the book or movie, although I am familiar with Abraham Lincoln....enjoyed the trailer..thanks to BlogHer and SassyMonkey for continually broadening my horizons. I was not aware of the vampire problem in the Civil War. I especially enjoyed Mary Todd (?) removing her skirt and using it like a Ninja...I was not aware women did that...amazing what one doesn't know. Fondly, Robin

SunbonnetSmart.com If you read Cherie Priest you'll also find out that the US had zombies during the Civil War. Quite illuminating! ;-)

sassymonkey Dag-gone it, zombies are pesky. I am wondering if they were TRUE Civil War zombies or just ones that had time traveled. Always a concern....

I HAVE to see this movie. We've just recently bought the book, and though I haven't read it yet (I need to hurry up and read it first), hubby and I are into these kind of movies. Maybe it's corny, cheeky or whatever and however, we are going! But I won't be having anything to eat whilst I watch. I am squeemish where food and blood are concerned.

By the way, thank you for the trailer. It was my first. :)

HomeRearedChef I don't think I could eat popcorn during say... a Saw movie. But something like this? I can do it. I think. Maybe. Come to think of it I'm not sure how I feel about food, blood and 3-D effects...

sassymonkey In 3-D? Now that I didn't know. But for sure then I could not eat having blood that close to my face. lol!

We have a local movie theater that serves beer and wine! But alas I doubt this film will play there. And I do love a good Vampire movie! I thought about reading the book but have not, maybe I need to pick it up!

I read the book on a whim and found it very interesting and better than expected. The movie sounds like fun but I rarely get to the movies in the theaters. Maybe when it comes to DirecTV on demand?

texasebeth lol probably not until next fall.

I actually LOVED the book and I will definitely be seeing this movie! These type of books are just screaming for movies to be made. I'm thrilled that Tim Burton took on this book and can't wait to see what he did with it!

sassymonkey 723 pts moderator

AlabamaSlackerMama I'm kind of thrilled that there's a Tim Burton movie that doesn't star Johnny Depp. Not that I don't love me some Johnny Depp but a Burton/Depp collaboration is almost cliche now.

I did not want to read the book but I wouldn't turn my nose up at the movie - if I actually went to see movies. In this case, I think the movie is probably better than the book...

Denise I don't want to read the book either and I'm really pleasantly surprised by the trailer. The movie looks like fun. :)

I enjoyed the book. Haven't seen the movie trailer; didn't even know it was going to be made into a movie. I'll have to check it out.

Haven't done either, but I'll add the book to my tower of to-be-read books.
