Of Advent…10 Days to Christmas & Received a 60-Day Notice to Move!

Tonight, while hubby and I were having dinner, the doorbell rang. It was our landlord’s representative, serving us papers that say we have 60 days to move out. My heart dropped to my stomach and my delicious food turned sour! And no, we haven’t done anything wrong. It is our misfortune to be renting. Sigh!

Sadly, our landlord’s have fallen into hard times, and they are losing their 2nd home. And the home we are living in, renting, was always meant to be for their retirement. So we are to move yet again—and packing up our belongings and searching for a home through our Christmas and New Year’s holiday. Sigh!

In my recent post, “12 Days Left of Advent: And “It’s a Wonderful Life” after all!” I talked about how my husband and I have spent about two-thirds of our married life facing struggles. And in the past almost fourteen years we’ve moved seven different times. We are tired; tired of packing and unpacking and packing again an entire household. Sigh!

It seems reasonable to assume that our plans to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in February will need to be, temporarily postponed. Sigh!

After a lot of crying last night, really just feeling sorry for us, I wondered what God has in store for us now? And after a miserable night, of tossing and turning and worrying, I woke up with a scripture in my heart: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6. That scripture has brought some comfort to my aching and worried heart!

I am forever working on the “trust in tomorrow” issue.

I have often described us, our family, as wanderers in the wilderness in the Land of Oz, and I am anxiously waiting for the day we can settle, and finally call our place of dwelling “Home!”
