Alone with my thoughts
Sometimes life gets so busy that days, weeks, and months pass by in a flash. It's already December and the year is almost over. How the heck did that happen? Brings to mind a quote from one of my favourite movies:
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
I love taking walks. Unfortunately it isn't something I get to do much of anymore. But lately I've started parking far away from the office and walking to work [20 minutes each way]. Initially, I started doing this to save money because parking near the office is ridiculously expensive. But since we're having a remarkably warm fall season it's also become a great way for me to spend some much needed time outside, alone with my thoughts.

Walking helps me relax and focus. Especially now that I have so little time to myself. At home I'm always tending to someone or trying to get something done while still my to do list continues growing. I don't often give myself time to reconnect to myself. So, this is my time. Guilt free. Sometimes I think about a lot of things and sometimes I think about nothing. Either way, the result is always the same. Calming. Soothing. Peaceful.
When I was younger I couldn't stand to be alone. I'm not sure why. I wouldn't have dared to go to a restaurant alone or to a movie. But things are different now, now I enjoy it. Everyone should spend some time alone at least once a week. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle of life so spending time with your thoughts is a great way to remain centered.
