My kids adore anything with apples, and I make this a few times a month! In Autumn, when apples are in season I make it once a week. I love to make this recipe and it is incredibly easy. All of the prep comes from peeling and coring, and it's really worth it.
- 8 apples, peeled and cored, cut in half (I like granny smith, but any kind will do)
- 1.5 cups water
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
You can add sugar if you want, but it's not necessary. No more than 1/4 cup, or it will be too sweet.
Put all ingredients in a slow cooker, and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours. The apples will mush on their own (chunky). If you want a smoother consistency, just pulse in your food processor or blender until you get the consistency that you like!
P.S. For a real Mrs. Muffintop treat, put some on top of vanilla ice cream when it's still a little warm, drizzle with caramel sauce and enjoy!
