Before and after - how to paint a ceiling fan - 1

Oh my gosh, we seriously cannot believe how great this Before and After turned out. One of our biggest New Years Resolutions is to spiffy up items we already have. This is a great way to personalize an out-of-date home fan without purchasing a new one.

It rocks our world that just $8 worth of product purchases can give an out-dated fan a whole new life. Read on, readers for the photo recap and some great pointers to tackle this easy DIY project.

So here she is, in all her hideousness, hangin' out on OUR tv ceiling everyday. Ugh, I loathe the sight of that horribly out of date white fan! But I'm not really up for dishing out $100 for a new one as Christmas present buying takes top priority, at the moment. The quick fix? Paint that sucka!

I enlisted the help of one ... hot ... hubby! He turned off the electricity (via our panel box) and took that fugalicious fan down and said it was mine, all mine!

I'm pretty sure he was scared of what 'color' I'd paint it, but once I told him I was opting for a brown/black combo, he was a happy gent!

Yep, that would be dust bunnies all over the place. Am I embarrassed? You betcha! But will I still share the pic anyway? Obviously we keep it real with our readers right here at Casa Cullen!

Hubby, who said at first, "this is your project" was seriously all over this. He painted them like a champ and I can pretty much say, this ended up being "his" project.

I like it already!

I love it, your "new" fan is gorgeous!

We've been doing similar projects around our house, reworking, reusing, & repurposing too but I never thought about repainting a ceiling fan.

Great idea, thanks for sharing.

This never would have occured to me! When we moved to our new house 1 1/2 years ago it was full of ugly, miss-matched ceiling fans. We've been replacing them one at a time, but to think we could have just painted them! I'd better not tell my husband since he didn't understand why the old fans weren't just fine ;) But maybe I can just paint the remaining ugly fans....a whole new world... :)

Wow. I might try this idea -- in the spring/summer. No safe/dry place to spray paint right now! The boys' fans could use an update. Maybe even the living room!

That looks seriously awesome! We opted to take down every single ceiling fan here (save one), but if our next house has a bunch of those eyesores I like this remedy.

But rather than having individual lights ours has a big white ugly dome.

I checked out the rest of your tutorials. I love what you did with the space above your kitchen cabinets.

We don't have a ceiling fan, but your paint-job-refurbishing looks so good that I'm looking around the house for something else I could do similarly to give a new look to a room.
