CNN's landmark -- and it IS landmark -- partnership with You Tube during Monday night's Democratic debate marks a bittersweet turn in the history of User Generated Content. First, we experienced real democracy in action for the first time in eight years as more than 50 Americans (from a field of about 3000 submissions) were permitted to ask the Democratic candidates fresh, direct and intriguing questions. But what did we really learn?
Mike Gravel:
Is mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore. At least someone isn't
Chris Dodd:
Knows even his Senate salary won't pay for his kid's college education.
John Edwards:
Likes Gays better than Hillary Clinton's coat. (And it was a pretty gay coat.)
Hillary Cinton:
Knows better than to judge a leader by their hair, er, what they wear.
Barack Obama:
Will make a wonderful Ambassador of Hope.
Bill Richardson:
Is clearly qualified enough to be President and knows it.
Joe Biden:
Is a widower. Who knew??
Dennis Kuchinich:
Doesn't have a HOT daughter. That's his WIFE!
Anderson Cooper:
Beneath that sterling aristocratic veneer is a bona fide smart ass.
CNN:
Tens years after the birth of blogs, the world’s ‘most trusted news source’ finally trusts "˜the internets." Now...how long before they ruin it for everybody??
The American People:
Are a LOT smarter and self-aware than the Mainstream Media or Washington ever led us to believe.
Note to Google/You Tube: Develop a REAL voting system NOW!!!

Hello. I enjoyed your comments on the YouTube debates. Do you really think, though, that the questions were the will (so to speak) of the American people, given that they were all filtered through the people at CNN first (from what I understand about how they were chosen)? I mean, there were a few duds and I, like a lot of people, was disappointed every candidate didn't get to respond to each question. I think it would have been better if they'd had fewer questions and each candidate got to answer...and/or maybe they could've made the debate a little longer.
Don't you think, too, that they had a pretty good inkling that the debate would go over very well; so, perhaps the debate could've been dubbed just the first of the YouTube Democratic debates?
At any rate, several of your comments were very funny and incisive. Thanks for offering them up!
