Levi's second MRI to check on his shunt was set for today. WAS being the key word.
He had a crappy night. I let him go to bed too early, 9 PM. Some might say that's too late for a 2 year old, but not for my kid. If he goes to sleep that early he doesn't usually sleep through the night. Last night was no exception. He woke up when I was able to come to bed around midnight. He laid there tossing and turning for hours. I tried to ignore him, I tried to get him to go to sleep by threatening to send him to his room, I tried holding him. Nothing worked. Around 3 AM Rian woke up, and that meant I had to go feed her.
Levi was still awake and asked for milk. It was just a reflex, something so automatic that Justin and I didn't even think about him not being able to have any. The rules for his early morning MRI and general anesthesia were no food or drink after 12 AM. Ooops.
I didn't realize the mistake until we had to get up and get ready to go, but it was too late to say anything, and I was so gosh darn tired. I thought it might be okay, or at least I hoped it would.
We went ahead and went to the hospital, and then I had to tell them about the milk. She even asked what kind of milk he drank, as if that would have made a difference. One phone call to the Anesthesiologist later and I was having to reschedule his appointment. Ugh. Now we get to look forward to his MRI a couple of weeks from now.
March 17th, St. Patrick's Day. Maybe the luck of the Irish will be with us then, right?
