BlogHer PRO '13

We announced our opening and closing keynote speakers on Tuesday, and as a reminder, you won't want to miss our event kick-off with marketing and networking expert Porter Gale, who will discuss the power of networks, and how a person’s potential worth is based on whom we can access. And you certainly have to join us to close the event with an inspirational keynote and musical performance by Google + sensation Daria Musk. Daria will share how she was able to create a global audience using the social tools available at her (and your!) fingertips.

Porter's Welcome Keynote will be followed by a single-track Business Development Intensive, where we'll walk through a mini-MBA of marketing topics, through the lens of a social media business. Those topics include:

  • Positioning
  • Productizing
  • Prospecting
  • Pitching, Pricing, and Proposing
  • Partnership (i.e.Contract Negotiation)
  • Produce (i.e. Results and ROI!)

Wednesday is a full day of programming, starting with breakfast at 8:30 and a "brands and bloggers" keynote discussion.

The first segment of breakout programming begins at 10am, featuring two tracks: Content and Monetization.

  • The Content track will cover the state of the publishing market, including old school publishing skills, new media platforms, and how to unleash your creativity across both.

  • The Monetization track will give insider advice on the advertising market -- the changing standards, requirements, and opportunities -- and what all that means to, and for, you and your online presence.

The "Eat and Earn" lunch break will feature various demos, activities, and networking opportunities -- all focused on helping you be more productive and better-positioned to monetize your online work.

The second breakout of the day begins at 2pm, and features two tracks of programming focused squarely on mobile. We know from surveying our community and attendees that we're all well aware of the massive shift towards a mobile audience. And that we're all aware there's something we should be doing about it. This afternoon block will help you figure out what you should be doing about it.

  • If you're the kind of blogger who likes to get your hands dirty, the DIY: Mobile track will help you ensure your site is truly optimized for mobile. Discover the most mobile-friendly blog tools & plugins for your platform, as well as emerging mobile editing tools for photo and video, to help you create amazing content on-the-go.

  • For bloggers who would rather leave it to the pros, the Outsource: Mobile track will help you articulate your mobile strategy, give you tips on how to hire and work with a developer, and will show you what you need to consider when evaluating your design for the optimal mobile experience.
