Announcing BlogHer '10 and BlogHer Business '10

Today BlogHer is thrilled to announce the date, location and venue for BlogHer '10 and BlogHer Business '10.

Finally, after five on the West Coast and MIdwest, we are hitting the East Coast. And not just anywhere. Meet us in the Big Apple, Baby! BlogHer is hitting New York City!! And you can register now!

Can I hear a w00t?!

Here are the details:

What: BlogHer Business '10 and BlogHer '10
Dates:
BlogHer Business '10 on Thursday August 5th, 2010
BlogHer '10 on Friday and Saturday, August 6-7, 2010
Where: New York, NY
Venue: The Hilton New York (who will meet our $199 cap on hotel room rate, single and double occupancy.) Hotel registration under our group code will be available beginning August 7th, and we will blog the information as soon as it's ready.

How to register:

Go here to register for BlogHer '10.

Go here to register for BlogHer Business '10.

You'll notice something different about BlogHer '10 registration. We are, for the first time, introducing tiered pricing. As you all probably know by now, BlogHer has featured the same $99/day earlybird pricing since 2005. Even as the cost and production values and size of the conference have soared. How we do that is thanks to our much-appreciated sponsors. But it does mean that we can't always let in as many people as we want to.

We want to still keep that low, grassroots pricing for the bulk of you who attend. Those of you who do this for love and passion, but who can't tax-deduct your trip, or expense it to a company getting a lot of promotional or educational bang for their attendance buck. Those of you who meet that description, you get the Blogger Rate.

For those of you who do this for love and passion...and for a paycheck...those of you who can expense or deduct this trip, we ask you to please register for the Company Rate.

This will enable us to accommodate higher capacity right from the outset. We did get almost 300 people in off the waitlist this year, but I'm sure they all would have rather been able to buy a ticket without the wait :)

BlogHer has always been about the spirit of volunteerism, pitching in, keeping this the "conference the community built", even in our sixth year. We know that the community will approach this experiment in tiered pricing with the same spirit.

We're excited to have such a head start on Blogher '10. We have a full year to make it bigger and better than ever!

And we hope a new bunch of East Coasters will finally be able to join us at the annual conference!

WOW! Sooo want to go to this next year! Wanna sponsor me?

July 25, 2009 - 2:10am

I am super excited that BlogHer10 is in NYC. It's such an exciting location. I have been Twitter-stalking BlogHer09 from my home in Minnesota and could just kick my self for not being there in Chicago--a mere 5 or so hours away. Geesh.

I have to figure out a way to get to NYC next year--BlogHer means a lot to me as do the other lovely bloggers out there who I found through BlogHer.

Perhaps I can get a sponsor for BlogHer10. Not even sure how to go about it. It's such an important event--I have to get there!

Best,

Suzi @ pinkvanillacupcakes.com

I would love to take my whole team to BlogHer 2010

July 25, 2009 - 8:32am

It would be great if I could bring the whole Healthy Moms team of bloggers to BlogHer 2010. How would I register as a team? Would I have to purchase all the tickets at once? How do we go about getting sponsors? I see that all over the blogosphere too. Glad to hear that we have until February to get our tickets with the early bird pricing.

I would also love a way to

July 27, 2009 - 11:04am

I would also love a way to bring the team. I just can't justify spending $400 for each of us. Is there added content for business blogs or are we just asked to pay double because we'll get a little back from Uncle Sam?

Questions

July 26, 2009 - 12:48am

Hello! I'm new to blogging and BlogHer! I recently started a blog about my daughter and her journey through auditory processing disorder. I would like to get my blog "out there" so it can help other people. I would love to attend this event, however as a military family, our $$$ are always low! I would love to know more about sponsors! Please send me a message :)

Thank you! Donna

Pick me, pick me!!

July 26, 2009 - 5:26pm

I have been totally jealous watching the BlogHer action from afar... would so love to come to NY next year (hubby, kids, business and bank account allowing)!!!  Wonder if they need Aussie speakers?

:-)

I want to go so bad!

July 26, 2009 - 6:11pm

Oh dear, I want to go!  I had to miss this year and decided I needed to go next year for sure... and I would love to spend some more time in NYC!  But I'm scared that since registration is open so early that it'll be sold out before I can get a ticket! ACK!

Sponsors already?

July 26, 2009 - 8:55pm

I've just gotten home from my 4th BlogHer event and, of course, wanted to get the details about the next one in 2010. So color me shocked that on the very post announcing the venue and dates there are several women already asking for sponsors.

I'm in education. Comparatively speaking, this is an affordable conference. In fact, if you're in marketing or advertising where conferences go anywhere from $1500 on up (as I've learned from my sister) and, yes, I can appreciate that women who want to attend are from varied income levels.

But there is an entire YEAR before this conference. It's July of 2009 and the conference is in August of 2010. In the time it could take for one to start asking for a sponsor to pay for them to attend this conference couldn't one create a savings account and start to put away for this? Is it too much to ask that people make plans for this a year out?

All this sponsor-begging has worn me out this year. If we want to be taken seriously and write well, let's be professional. Please.

Mocha Momma

You said it!

July 27, 2009 - 11:44am

Oh girl, you nailed it.

If you take blogging seriously, you will find a way to get to NYC for this conference. And yes, it's a conference, not a bachelorette party, so it's a tax-deductible business expense. If you don't have the money lying around, you should find a way and figure it out before expecting other people to do it for you. You will track flights on yapta.com, find 3 other women to share a room with and find some small luxuries you can give up so you can put the conference ticket on your credit card and pay it off by the time next summer rolls around. If you STILL can't make it happen, THEN start coming up with ways that will bring value to your readers and potential financial supporters and pitch them. But if you think there are companies who are going to want to send you a fat check just because you ask, you're one of the entitled mommy bloggers giving everyone else a bad name.

Fucking bravo. If you can't

July 27, 2009 - 12:41pm

Fucking bravo.

If you can't save $50 a month over six months to cover the cost of the conference and hotel, maybe you shouldn't be going.

NYC?!

July 26, 2009 - 9:46pm

About bloody time.

See you all in August.

First chance to go

July 27, 2009 - 11:19am

It's in my neck of the woods, I am told. I must go, I am told. OK, I want to go! But is there a bulk price for BlogHer and BlogHer Business, by chance?

Here's a W00T from me!!

July 27, 2009 - 11:27am

I'm hoping I'll be able to go next year, but even if I don't, I am still thrilled! NYC will be a great location, I'm excited for those on the East coast who have a better chance of attending, I love the pricing tiers, and its awesome to have so much advance notice to make it easier to plan (and save up the money!!! Jeeeez...!!)

I think, therefore I blog.

I'm THERE!!!

NYC is too close to miss! BlogHer09 was awesome and I loved speaking on the PatientBlogger panel, so I'm in for BlogHer10!

I'm in!

July 27, 2009 - 12:23pm

I thought about going this year but couldn't quite make the logistics work, but New York will definitely work for me - I'm in Boston but I'm originally from Brooklyn and a lot of my family are still in the NYC area - so I just bought my ticket!  I can't believe I am making plans for something over a year away, but I am so excited about this!

I agree

July 27, 2009 - 12:53pm

The sponsor thing has me raising my eyebrows... I didn't get to go this year.. is that a new development?  I've never heard of such a thing!

I'll have no problem raising the $ eventually, I'm just worried about the tickets selling out before I have a chance to get them!  LOL!

To clarify on tiered pricing

July 27, 2009 - 2:15pm

Some of you have asked about the tiered pricing.

This is an honor system, and I think you know if you're in the position of being able to afford the Company rate. We are leaving it to your judgement, if you are a blogger of any kind, business bloggers included.

(If, however, we see folks from Fortune 500s and big agencies etc. deciding they should sign up for the grassroots rate, we might take a different approach!)

With no 50th anniversary

July 27, 2009 - 4:26pm

With no 50th anniversary parties, no birthdays and the moving it back a week, I can most definitely attend. It's about time my schedule worked out!!!

Now to find a sponsor.
