Announcing: BlogHer '11 Room of Your Own Submissions Are Open!
Last week, we announced BlogHer '11 Programming, Step One: The BlogHer-Programmed Session Schedule.
Today we're launching the Room of Your Own Submission process.
What is Room of Your Own?
We introduced the Room of Your Own (ROYO) concept at our very first conference in 2005. You can read that original post here. We know perfectly well that the 30 programmed sessions still won't cover every topic that lots of people want to talk about, so why not turn over the mic and let you all fill in the blanks?
If you are a registered BlogHer '11 attendee (or plan to be by our March 23, 2011 deadline for ROYO submissions), this is an opportunity to make the conference your own.
BlogHer-programmed panels typically feature universal topics discussed by diverse voices. The Room of Your Own sessions are, instead, the perfect place to dig deeper into any one corner of the blogosphere ... its particular challenges, triumphs, concerns, issues. You can lead a discussion alone, or bring a panel of interesting speakers. This year, an entire track will be dedicated to Room of Your Own sessions, so while you're welcome to indicate which track they would fit into, there will be no requirement for there to be a certain number of panels from each track.
We will be using the submission and polling tool we've used the last two years to allow you to submit sessions you'd like to present and to flag the suggestions from others that you would attend. The Room of Your Own submission tool is open now and will remain open until 3/23/11.
FYI: Room of Your Own sessions are ultimately selected based on three criteria:
- Community interest
- Bringing something new/different to the current schedule and new to BlogHer in general
- Proposed and presented by registered BlogHer attendees
