In April, we announced the speakers and sessions for the 2nd annual HealthMinder Day at BlogHer. Today, we're thrilled to announce the incredible keynote speakers for this year's event!
Spend the breakfast hour with the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius. Named one of the 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes, Secretary Sebelius is a champion for national and global health, and has led ambitious efforts to improve America’s health and enhance the delivery of human services to some of the nation’s most vulnerable populations, including young children, those with disabilities, and the elderly. We'll be interviewing Secretary Sebelius about the hot-button healthcare issues of our time, and taking your questions...you won't want to miss this opportunity to talk with our nation's Chief Health Officer in this relatively small-group setting!
Over lunch, we welcome internationally renowned dietician, educator, author, and health & lifestyle writer Ashley Koff to the keynote stage, to share key insights on existing and emerging health trends, and empower you to take charge of your own health. One of her main focus areas is to advocate for a holistic approach to increasing energy...something that can get lost in the shuffle when we focus on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and more as disparate concerns.
HealthMinder Day closes with an inspirational story of perseverance against immeasurable odds. Since 1986, Rae Lewis-Thornton has been fighting the stigma, and the heath effects, of being HIV positive. Two decades ago she was the face of a patient that few in the mainstream acknowledged. Today, her fight continues, and has taken on renewed vigor with the emergence of social media tools. Learn not only why we still need to be tackling HIV and AIDS head on, but the amazing impact social media can have on both message and messenger.
As always, we want to know: What would you ask these three amazing women? What burning questions do you have? Share them in the comments here, and some will make it to the stage!
