Announcing the BlogHer '13 Style Mini-Con
Today, we are unveiling more information about a previously announced addition to the BlogHer '13 program -- the BlogHer '13 Style Mini-Con! As in years past, we beef up programming in response to trends in (and asks from) our community -- like how the 2011 Special Needs Parenting Mini-Con became a track at an expanded HealthMinder Day in 2012!
It's common knowledge that BlogHer has a bit of a shoe thing, and a bit more of a thing for the smart, savvy women who are writing about them online -- and all the other emerging facets of the style and beauty blogging vertical. From our fellow shoe fanatics to mascara aficionados, from amazing natural hair to DIY fashion that puts Pinterest to shame, few blend creativity and business opportunity like style and beauty bloggers.
We know that style and beauty blogging is an area of terrific growth both in our network and in the blogosphere at large, and this year's Style Mini-Con at BlogHer 13 will shine a spotlight on some of the sharpest voices in the style and beauty community, who will share their best intelligence on how to organize, professionalize, and monetize their online work.
The Style Mini-Con will span the course of Friday's program, including the following dedicated panels:
The Business of Style Blogging: Style bloggers are building rich, full careers, leveraging their online platform, but not relying solely on it. Moderated by Lesley Pinckney, Patrice Yursik from Afrobella, Gabi Gregg from Gabifresh, and Natalia Simmons from Ma Nouvelle Mode are branching out and leveling up their game.
Rocking Your Otherness; Your Niche as a Platform, Not a Trap: Style bloggers are using niches to carve out a new, exciting, meaningful, and monetizable space in the blogging community. CeCe Olisa from The Big Girl Blog, Sabrina Enyatulla from Slice of Lemon, Leila Noelliste from Black Girl Long Hair, and Christina Brown from Love Brown Sugar are owning their space, and making the most of it.
The List (and How to Get on It): If there is one question we hear from bloggers covering this image- and access-conscious industry, it's "How do I get on *the* list?" We're bringing publishing, PR and brand perspectives to the table to give you an inside look at how it works. BlogHer editor-in-chief (and longtime women's magazine leader) Stacy Morrison moderates the insightful advice from Adrianna Guilliani from Devries Public Relations and Raina Penchansky from Digital Brand Architects.
Since the Style Mini-Con takes place during the main conference, any attendee with a full conference pass to BlogHer '13 is welcome to attend; It's included in your conference ticket (register here), and there is no pre-sign up for the Style Mini-Con required. Visit the BlogHer '13 agenda to view complete session details and speaker names, and we'll see you in Chicago!
