BlogHerFood

Today we are thrilled to announce BlogHer Food '09, our second focused BlogHer event, after BlogHer Business. BlogHer Food will take place this September 26th at the beautiful St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco, CA and will bring FoodBloggers from every walk of life together...to meet, to eat, to learn, to eat, to share best practices, to eat, to blog...and to eat!

Our food blogging community has been clamoring for more foodie content since at least 2007, and we are thrilled to finally be able to launch this event to bring that content and much much more.

Some of you may know that I am not only not a foodie, but BlogHer's notorious vegan too. Never fear, we are assembling a crack advisory committee of FoodBloggers to make sure the content is as diverse and broad as the food blogging community itself, led by our core FoodBloggers here on BlogHer.com, Elise Bauer, Kalyn Denny, Alanna Kellogg and Sean Timberlake.

Here are the details we know now:

WHAT: BlogHer Food '09
WHEN: September 26, 2009, 9AM to 9PM
WHERE: St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco, CA
WHO: Anyone and everyone who is or wants to be part of the Food Blogosphere. BlogHer is open to all, and you don't have to be an advanced or long-time blogger to attend. There will be programming for all levels and for many different interests from within the food blogging community.
HOW MUCH: We maintain the $99 registration fee that we have had since 2005!
WHERE CAN I REGISTER?: BlogHer Food '09 is sold out, but you can put yourself on the waiting list here!

Here are the further details to come:

Early next week we will issue our usual Call for Ideas, and at that time we'll ask you what kind of topics you'd like to see covered, and who you would love to see cover them. BlogHer remains the conference the community built, and we will take your lead. We will also be adding more folks to the Advisory Committee, and we'll let you know who they are.

Also, BlogHer Food '09 will be add to our Conference web site next week. Watch that space as we add more details, sessions, speakers, sponsors etc. etc.

We hope you are excited to hear about BlogHer Food '09 as we have been in deciding to strike out into this new territory! And since it wouldn't be a BlogHer Conference without some blog bling, we hope you enjoy this first BlogHer Food '09 Blog Bling:

How fantastic!  Since I can't attend BlogHer in Chicago this summer, I will do everything in my power to be there for this!

Hi! I'm another gluten-free blogger excited to be attending Blogher Food '09. I'm a Bay Area resident so this event is in the perfect location for me! Just wanted to mention that I hope there will be some gluten-free vegetarian options at the event, and I look forward to hearing about the menu. If organizers are looking for a local source of gluten-free products, you may find that Mariposa Bakery in Oakland, Ca. is the best bet. (I'm not affiliated, just a fan.) Their pizza is especially tasty. However, naturally gluten-free options like veggie sushi (avocado, cucumber), corn tacos, or potatoes would also be fantastic and economical options. If there is any way ingredients could be included with the food, those of us who must be gluten-free or have allergies would be very, very happy and feel very comfortable enjoying the food. Thanks so much and let me know if I can help in any way (since I'm local).

Best wishes and looking forward to the event,

I haven't figured out how I'm getting there or how I'm paying for it but I'm going. And I'm meeting up there with a friend of mine I'm known since junior high. We're both really looking forward to it!

I sooooo want to make it to this conference!  Now I just have to figure out what to do with my 2 year old, how to get there, and if my bank account can handle it.

No biggie, minor details....

Oh, I am so sad!  First, I have to miss BlogHer due to a wedding and now I'll have to miss BlogHer Food for my 10 year high school reunion :(  Have fun, ladies!  I can't wait to hear all about it.

Elisa,

Thank you for addressing my concern. I'm in South Carolina, so it's a little daunting, but I think I can swing it.

Elisa Camahort 5 pts

I appreciate your nerves, Heather, but I can tell you that we already have had enough (sponsor and attendee) interest in the three days since we announced this to ensure there's no risk that BlogHer Food will suffer Greensboro's fate. It's also an entirely different undertaking to do an intimate event in our home city vs. a two-week road trip to six cities...the considerations are wildly different.

All to say: BlogHer Food '09 is ON! And I hope we'll see you there :)

Hi Dr. Jean. With both vegans (well, one vegan...me) and gluten-free folks on staff here at BlogHer we are extraordinarily sensitive to food requirements. That being said, it's true that GF can sometimes be even hard to guarantee than vegan!

We haven't even begun working on menus yet, so I suggest that you check back in with us a few weeks before to see what we have identified for you.

If there's anywhere where you can count on there being more awareness and accommodation, it's San Francisco, so I hope we'll be able to truly have something for everyone.

I have begun to make arrangements to attend this conference. I am a little nervous about confirming the flight after Greensboro, NC was canceled last October.

My husband would probably kill me with as much as I'm already traveling this year - and I don't really *have* a food blog - but a BlogHer Food event? I'd so want to just go and listen and learn!

Hmmm... wondering if I can figure out a way to do this!

Almost willing to start a food blog just to come to this... but then, I'd make you room with me and all, and you'd never sleep!! :)

Can't wait to see folks I only know in the cyber world in person.

Bought my tickets, checking out places to stay .

Now, just a quick question about food.  Will there be Gluten-Free food available or should I pack my own to be safe?

Thanks

Dr. Jean

Brilliant. What a brilliant idea and brilliant location for it. I'm a culinary food student (and, of course, blogging about it) but if I can slip away from school ... I know where I want to go!
