* * * * *UPDATE: The BlogHer Food '10 Call for Ideas closed on April 1, 2010. Thank you to everyone who submitted a panel idea or nominated a speaker!* * * * *

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to announce our second annual BlogHer Food Conference, this October 8-9 in San Francisco, and to tell you that we were expanding the event from one to two days! [Side note: You can still register here, and tickets are going fast!]

Today I'm announcing our Call for Ideas for programming for BlogHer Food '10.

For those of you who are not that familiar with BlogHer, we call our events the "conference the community built," and getting your input on the programming is one of the most important steps. Yes, we encourage you to submit yourself to speak, but we are also interested in having you submit your wish list of other speakers. The panels you'd like to attend.

BlogHer's conference programming manager, Jes Ferris, and I will be ably assisted by:

The BlogHer Food '10 Conference Advisory Committee

Elana Amsterdam from Elana's Pantry
Penny de los Santos from Appetite
Stephanie Im from Lick My Spoon
Jennifer Maiser from Eat Local Challenge
Susan Russo from Food Blogga
Hank Shaw from Hunter Angler Gardener Cook
Sean Timberlake from BlogHer and Hedonia
Elaine Wu from BlogHer and VirgoBlue

What Will the Conference Tracks Be?

Because we're expanding to two days, we also have the opportunity to accommodate more content. Please submit panel ideas that could fit into one of the following tracks:

  • Values, e.g. Food Politics or Social Change via Food Blogs
  • Visuals, e.g. Photography, Video, Design
  • Vocation, e.g. Skills Development, Best Practices, Traffic Building, Monetization, Ethics, Publishing
  • Voice, e.g. Writing Skills, Storytelling, Inspiration

How to Submit

If any of the above triggers some great ideas, then please use this submission form to submit your idea. The form will ask for contact information, plus:

  • URLs to support your submission
  • Which track you're submitting for
  • Panel name and description
  • Who else you think should be contributing and why

What's the Timeline?

Our programming schedule is:

  • March 1, 2010: Call for Ideas open
  • April 1, 2010: Call for Ideas closed
  • June 1, 2010: All submitters contacted either way, and programming published

Thanks for offering to share your creativity and skills with your fellow food blogging community at BlogHer Food '10 this fall. We can't wait to see what you cook up. (Pun totally intended!)

Best,
Elisa
for Elisa, Jory and Lisa, and the entire Conference Team

My plans are a little up-in-the-air this year, but I'm going to sign up and hope it works out that I can make it.

I don't think my idea fits the form, but I'll submit just in case.

I would love for the conference to be available virtually as well -- even if it were recorded and available another time, rather than live.

I have wanted to attend and contribute, but the trip to California is out of our budget :-(
