Announcing BlogHer’s Food Well Said (Beta): What Do You Think?

BlogHer Original Post

Hi everyone,

I'm excited to announce a powerful new content discovery tool: BlogHer’s Well Said (Beta) -– starting with food!

For a little more than a year now, BlogHer has published the #3 largest food network in the U.S. (comScore), syndicating headlines from and advertising to 600 of the best food blogs in the world. To celebrate these amazing bloggers and serve our mission to create more exposure for their work, we've taken an important step forward with this new service: Throughout the day, we will update BlogHer’s Food Well Said (Beta) with beautiful, highly clickable excerpts of the latest posts from all 600 blogs in BlogHer’s Publishing Network for food blogs.

Life Well Said Beta

This interface is designed to marry the best of tablet and Web browsing with social sharing -- while preserving the identities of (and direct links to!) the original content creators, celebrating their incredible blogs and making it possible for all of us loyal eaters to save their best recipes. AND save them wherever in social media it's easiest for us as individual users to follow, find, read and ultimately cook. At the same time, we are leaving BlogHer.com’s Food topic area just as it is, for curated content, member posts and syndicated recipes of deliciousness.

Here's how BlogHer’s Well Said reader works in its Beta form:

  • Go to Food Well Said (Beta) --see the top navigation bar on BlogHer.com.

  • Click on a photo or recipe headline to go to the blog of origin and read the entire post -– in this case, likely a recipe.

  • Mouse over (or touch a photo from your tablet) to share the recipe link to a social site or save it to your BlogHer.com profile favorites.

  • Click on a blogger's byline to see only that blogger's headlines.

We made sure that this interface is mobile and tablet-friendly, whether you're on one of the 600 food blogs partnered with our publishing network, or following the incredible influence of these bloggers and their gorgeous content across Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and/or Instagram.

So, what do you think? We'd love to know! You’re helping us design this site for the long term. BlogHers have proven to be tech-savvy first adopters of multiple mobile devices and tablets, so food is just the beginning. Our plan is to extend the Well Said reader to many more topics -- to help you find, share and favorite the best writing by women online.

Won’t you tell us what you think so that we can make it even better as we expand into every topic from parenting to politics?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Best,

Lisa
