Roombas. Hah.

I hadn't seen much in the way of previews before the hubster and I took our 5 and 3 year old spawn to view said film. I was pleasantly surprised. Pixar is AMAZING, and the message this movie carried was HUGE, in more ways than one. There are so many nuggets to glean from this, and I really want to see it again just to catch each one. The kids really liked it, though we missed out on the watch (eff yeah!) and my husband and I couldn't stop laughing/grimacing. It's a go see.(I especially liked the psycho bots... go figure. ) ~MoM

What I thought was most ironic was the fact that the theater was handing out crapola WALL E watches to the movie goers. "Save the Earth - but not until after our major marketing campaign is over." I don't know...maybe the watches were made of recycled Hummers. (I know, everyone picks on the Hummers.)

Other than that, I thought the movie was entertaining. I could have used more Fred Willard, but then, who couldn't?

My eldest daughter declared it "the best Pixar movie ever" so that's high praise.

I did cry when the robots...uh...bumped foreheads.

And it was roaringly funny that the way by which the evil half-Hal robot was overcome and met its downfall was not through some technologically savvy machinations or uploaded virus, etc. Sometimes, taking down "the enemy" is as simple as...well...no spoilers here.

Anyway, enjoying a post-apocolyptic Earth-is-destroyed-by-man movie in a drive-in packed with hundreds of SUVs was sort of an act of complete defiance, and Hollywood should pat itslef on the back for creating a film that should really act as a sort of Jean Tinguely work of art that destroys itself as you watch...and yet it then continues to earn millions. See, there was a second feature, and although we all surely got the message about over-consumption and the need to save the earth from ourselves, just about everyone fired up their big rigs during the intermission to recharge their car batteries in time for the second feature.

And somewhere in a dark corner of my living room, my Roomba is plotting.

And yes, I'm fun at parties. Pass the dolphin burgers.

I'm answering my own question in case there is anyone else out there wanting to know. I risked it and took my just 4 year-old to Wall-E today, and we both LOVED it - although she loved it more after she was able to play with the video games in the lobby. But she sat through it with very little restlessness. Depending on the child, I'd say 4 years old is probably an ok age. There is very little "scariness" in the movie, and it is packed with great action. And so sweet...really, it was a winner. Even if you aren't a Pixar fan, I think you'll enjoy it.

It's billed as family friendly, but is it ok for preschoolers? Will my 4-year old be able to sit through it? She loved Horton Hears a Who...

I just can't make the time right now. I did suggest TW take Liz to see it but she's back to work, painting another bedroom.

Maybe I can convince them to take a break and go tomorrow evening.

I'm enjoying all of the great reviews I'm reading.

Sounds like a great movie.  Can't wait to see it!  I love the underlying message of cleaning the earth, unintentional or not.

I'm excited, can you tell?

Also amused that the first one you decided to comment on was a Pixar flick.

If the juggler doesn't find a date, he can swing by here and pick up Liz. She's free for the evening.

According to my husband's Twitters, he's trolling for a date for this flick. So that might mean that I might go. It will be a late, late show, if we do. He's much more into the Pixar than I am, but I usually end up enjoying them at least the first time I see them.

p.s. Are you flattered? I registered just so I could start commenting on your posts. :p

I don't remember when I've laughed this much in a movie.  By the time they got to the spork joke I forgot my popcorn I was laughing so much.

Guy Kawasaki recently twittered a link to wall-e Easter eggs ( http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/06/27/wall-e-easter-... ).  Even having read through these in advance, I only spotted one or two in the actual movie.  Very subtle and fun to look for if you're into that sort of stuff.
