The Associated Press reports four charred bodies were found in an apparent migrant camp burned by one of the wildfires raging across Southern California.

If the fire was responsible for the deaths — which authorities said was not immediately certain — it would mean seven people have died in the flames that have consumed about 750 square miles and at least 1,800 homes since the weekend.

Nobody Asked Me writes, "It's hard not to have so much focus on the fires when the very air you breathe is so horrible. The sooty air is a constant reminder of what everyone is going through. The fire that most likely was set by an arsonist is directly affecting thousands of people."

Authorities in Orange County, California say the Santiago Fire was started in two places deliberately by someone with apparent knowledge of arson.

Bird writes, "To anyone reading this who is not in the Southern Calfornia region and may think that the CA-Fires-2007 are or have been routine or similar to anything in the past, you're wrong. The Fires here since Monday past have been beyond the scope of anyone's imagining in intensity, pervasiveness, widespread occurence and life and acreage affected. I've witnessed several wildfire seasons in Southern California over the many decades but these Fires-2007 are far in excess as to anything I've ever experienced before."

Blog by the Sea writes, "By this afternoon, only about 2,500 people were still evacuated at Qualcomm Stadium. The remaining evacuees will be moved tomorrow to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and the Chargers may play at Qualcomm on Sunday. That seems increasingly likely as a way of reassuring people that San Diego has pulled through the worst of the past week's problems."
