Celebrities Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey, called the "autism power couple" by disabilityscoop.com, announced their breakup on Twitter yesterday.

The news comes as other women are blogging Autism Awareness Month. Whether you think McCarthy is a "gullible torch-wielding celebrity" for her belief that vaccination leads to autism, or you're "touched by her story" and her work, it's definitely sad news that a couple who seemed so happy is breaking up.

I watched an interview with both Jenny and Jim and it was clear they were both great champions for children with autism. I remember Jenny being so touched by how her son responded to Jim in a way he hadn't with anyone else.

You're right, it is sad when a seemingly so strong and happy couple don't make it. :(
