The Backwoods of Punxsutawney
By PaintedByKB on August 30, 2012
I love being challenged, and this painting definitely put my skills to the test!
My brother-in-law is an avid hunter and approached me with the idea to create a painting from a photo he took in Punxsutawney where he got a black bear. The photo was starting to age and becoming faded, and the frame that once held it fell and shattered glass scratched it up. I was a little nervous when I started this piece because I never did a landscape of woods before, and there was SO much grass and trees! It turned out far better than I ever expected. I brightened up the sky and gave it more detail than the original photo had, which really made it pop! He was extremely pleased with it, and it is now proudly hung up in his camp in Punxsutawney!
