BareMinerals... their message is spectacular!

I used to hate my nose. I used to wish my parents could afford braces for me. I used to think my arms were too hairy. I used to think I needed big boobs. I used to think my ears poked out a little too much. I used to think my pale skin was embarrassing. I used to cry about my stretch marks and post-baby saggy belly. I used to think my calves were too skinny. I thought there was more wrong with me, than right.  I thought about it a whole lot. Well, I used to.  Read more

You don't have to fit into a mold to be beautiful.

"Beauty" is one of those terms that always seems difficult to define. Is it the way we appear to the outside world? Is it the way we feel inside? Is it the way we act around/with others? Is it a combination that seamlessly blends together? At the beginning of this year, I pondered the value our society places on women's appearances and the pressure we feel to have perfect hair, perfect makeup, and the perfect outfit. The media, I think, tends to view "beauty" as an outward appearance...and it breaks my heart a little bit.  Read more

May the force (of beauty) be with you.

Bare Escentuals believes Beauty is a force. We aren't talking about "oh, she's so pretty" here folks, we are talking about true beauty. I believe beauty comes from the inside, it is a force, like empathy for others and compassion. That's beauty and we all have it. We are all capable of being beautiful.  Read more

True beauty shines from the inside out.

I've always been a little skeptical of the word "beauty". To me it's been a wonderful way to describe a sunset, a flower, a piece of art... but not people. It seemed to me to be the least important aspect, perhaps almost insulting to say, as if you couldn't find anything else wonderful about a person but their appearance. Beauty is only skin deep. How many times have we heard that? But there isn't a problem with the word, there isn't a problem with being beautiful, the problem is in our perception.  Read more

Acceptance is a Force of Beauty

I applaud my personal transformation after a) getting rid of 70 lbs. and b) touching the stillness via yoga and meditation. My self-image has soared dramatically this year as I've embraced my femininity. Our individual assets are what prevent us from being cookie-cutter and carbon copies of others. Like our fingerprints, we each have a unique beauty to harness that isn't solely based on the external. It's time we accept ourselves in all our glory. Taking charge of our self-image can transform us into empowered women.  Read more

I absolutely LOVE how it looked on me!

Hello ladies!! Today I'm pulling a LouLou and talking to you about makeup!! I promised before to only host reviews and givaways if I genuinely felt the product would be GREAT for my readers and I'm pretty sure a bareMinerals giveaway is pretty awesome for you, so here you have it!!  After my "Your Questions Answered" post, I received an email about wearing eye shadow and asking my opinion on makeup. Today Im going to touch base on that.  Read more

What's your make-up philosophy?

The scene: Costco, 10 a.m. on a Thursday. The girl: Tall, tanned, uber-thin with long, straight, shiny hair. She was so put together - perfect outfit with adorable sky-high heels and jewelry. And she had that impeccable makeup where she did a "smoky eye" that looked artistic rather than dirty (which is how it looks when I attempt it). False eyelashes and red lipstick completed the look. She was absolutely stunning and I felt a little like a creeper because I couldn't stop staring at her.  Read more

The color stays on all day long!

Oh, the life of a mommy! I promise there used to be a time when I was glamorous. I have blogged many times about how rushed I am in the mornings. I love wearing makeup, and I love putting on my cutest outfit every day. But time doesn't always allow for it. I wake up more tired than I was when I went to bed sometimes, but I am always so happy to see the little faces that grace my home that I end up with tons of energy just because I love them so much.  Read more

BareMinerals Eyeshadow Giveaway

So, I turned forty in August. I know. But it's weird, because forty doesn't feel like I thought it would. Especially when I was in my twenties and believed forty was some ancient age that came with a minivan and elastic waistband pants.  I think part of the reason forty seems okay is because forty looks a lot different than it used to. When I look around at all the women I know, I tend to think the ones that are the most beautiful are the ones in their forties.  Read more
