"Beans and rice. Do any two foods go better together? OK, maybe, peanut butter and jelly, but if you give me a serving of beans, I will definitely want a serving of rice right beside it." ~ Homesick Texan in With Beans Comes Rice.
Beans and rice. Rice and beans. There's even a blog by that name, Rice and Beans. Whatever the order, these two foods belong side by side, a matched set, a demanded duo. Some times the beans are black, other times red.
Nola Cuisine ~ Red Beans and Rice with Sausage "I love reading Red Beans & Rice recipes, even though I can whip up a batch in my sleep, I’m forever browsing different recipes for new ideas." (An exceptional find: Nola Cuisine keeps an entire category for red beans and rice recipe!)
Andrea's Recipes ~ Slow Cooker Cuban-Style Black Beans with Rice "There is something about beans and rice that I find very comforting. We can make a whole meal out of a simple dish such as this."
Fatfree Vegan Kitchen ~ Real Louisiana Red Beans and Rice "Growing up in southeast Louisiana, I ate a lot of red beans and rice; in fact, Mondays were red beans and rice days in the school cafeteria, and while other kids complained about them and made fun of their lowly appearance, I secretly loved red beans."
Small Time Cooks ~ Cuban Black Beans and Rice "I am so pleased to have a really fast, really filling and really delicious vegetarian recipe to add to the repertoire. When Josh got home he said the kitchen smelled just like the burrito he had in NYC. He stuffed some of his dinner in a tortilla and was very, very happy. This recipe is supposed to serve four, but the protein-carb punch of beans and rice is really filling. We got two dinners and 4 lunches out of this one batch, which makes it pretty pocketbook friendly too!"
