One of the things I love most about food blogs is the amazing food photos. I know from personal experience that photographing food is a challenge, and I admire bloggers who can turn out beautiful photos no matter what they're cooking. Of course when Christmas comes, these talented photographers have beautiful Christmas food photos on their blogs to wish readers a Merry Christmas.

Since It's Christmas day, you probably aren't looking for recipes on your favorite food blog but I thought you might enjoy seeing a few of the beautiful (and food-related) Christmas greetings that caught my eye this year. I'm sharing the links rather than a copy of the photo, because these pictures look best on the original blog where they're usually larger than the size I can share here on BlogHer.com. Merry Christmas everyone, and enjoy!

Boston, USA: A stunning wish for a Joyeaux Noel from talented photographer Bea at La Tartine Gourmande.

Calabria, Italy: Michelle from Bleeding Espresso has a collage of beautiful Christmas food that she's using to wish her readers Buone Feste.

Boston, USA: You'll always find beautiful food photos at Vegan Yum Yum, and for Christmas Eve the Gingerbread Cakes are stunningly festive.

Weimar, Germany: Meeta from What's For Lunch Honey talks about German Christmas traditions including the Zimsterne or Cinnamon Stars she shows in her beautiful photos.

Toronto, Canada: Yvonne from Cream Puffs uses a beautiful photo of Trifle to show that she wishes her readers Christmas Joy. Her post about making her families traditional chestnut and cocoa ravioli is also a treat.

California, USA: Elise always has beautiful photos at Simply Recipes, and her collage of Holiday Cookies and Treats will make you drool.

Cambridge, USA: Erin of Erin Cooks has some beautiful Pretty Pink Christmas Trees as a holiday greeting.

Pistoia, Italy: Lovely photos of traditional Christmas trimmings and a great polenta and spinach appetizer at Lucullian Delights.

Boston, USA: At Nika's Culinaria, the photos of how her daughter is "helping" her make a Yule Log will make you smile.

There are so many talented food photographers out there, so if I missed your favorite Christmas food photo this year, I hope you'll share a link in the comments.

Oh, thanks so much for this list. These are lovely! Shooting food is one of the hardest photographic challenges. When I was a reporter in the lifestyle department of our local newspaper, we always kept our fingers crossed that the food page looked at least halfway appetizing!

I never get tired of seeing photos of food, and I agree it's a challenge to do well.
