breadThe day I learned to make beer bread was a great one. It happened quite a few years ago. Too long ago to recall even where I got the recipe.

It is one of the easiest recipes I know. And it is my most requested recipe from friends and family. Why on earth none of them can recall how to make a 4-ingredient quick-bread is beyond me.

Yes, you read that right. A 4-ingredient quick-bread. And it truly tastes like a homemade yeast bread that you spent hours kneading and rising and baking.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Grease a standard bread loaf pan and set aside.

In a mixing bowl combine:

3 cups self-rising flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 12-ounce bottle beer (I like to use Shiner Bock or Guinness)

Stir this batter together well and pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour.

Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes. Then turn out onto a cutting board to slice.

This bread is fantastic served hot.

Serves about 6 normal people or about 2 bread-craving women.
