Why are we here, well more importantly, why am I here (coz it's all about me). Why I am here, lying on my bed at 9:30 on a Thursday night setting up my first blog.
I'm about halfway through reading the first ever 'weight loss' book I have ever looked at - The Gabriel Method. While I'm not particularly enamoured with the way he writes, it is very easy to read, very personable and distills some very sensible notions into nice, simple answers.
I'm not, nor have I ever felt like describing myself as, fat. For one thing I think it's a horrible word with so much stigma attached to it that I don't even like saying out loud anymore (should we even allow words to have so much power over us anyway...hmmm, more on that later). Back on track though, I'm only marginally overweight, my BMI is on the upper end of healthy. I'm pretty fit, very strong but just can't shake these 20 surplus kilos that seem to have concreted themselves onto me. According to this book, I should be able to eat, visualise and exercise them away with a whole pile of positive thinking and meditative techniques. MInd over matter stuff - very sensible from a psychological perspective.
In following this new methode Gabriel, I've also decided to make myself wholly accountable to whomsoever stumbles across these rantings and hangs around to see what happens. I will play the CD and say the affirmations, out loud (regardless of how silly that will make me feel - and golly gosh it will indeed make me feel silly). I will buy the wheatgrass, barleygrass whateverness and the linseeds and eat the salads and attempt to document it at the same time.
I will also attempt to document, with photos from my very sexy new camera, my various projects, sketches, crochet and cookery that pop up along the way. If I can post something on here every day for 21 days then we'll have a habit. So that's only 20 posts to go.
