Being a Hostess on Vacation: MH Goes to Arizona
By MissHostess on January 30, 2013
Well, I have to say that I have not written in a couple of days because I
have been in am back from Carefree, Arizona, the Boulders! Thank you to wonderful friends for offering their home to us! I could not even describe the magnificence that becomes this place. The landscape is dotted with all different types of cacti as we are literally in the dessert. The skyline is jutting with mountains of all sizes, some with mansions nestled into them which light up like little lanterns floating in the sky at dark.
What It Looks Like
Each restaurant and boutique shop is decorated with similar southwestern and Adobe style: bold patterns, accents of metals such as tin and copper, and distinct handmade pieces that hail from neighboring Mexico. I would love to have it all. The food in these restaurants is all good--from the food at the Spotted Donkey cafe, to the more traditional fare at any one of the road side pit stops--I could eat this forever.
The homes in Cave Creek are difficult to tell apart from the stone, brush, and cacti which surround them. Once you do begin to make out the rounded corners, low lying roofs, arched, inconspicuous entryways, and patio walls, you just want to move into one of them! (I will have picture of more of my favorite decor soon!)
While here, my friends and I have been having a blast eating out, hiking mountains such as Pinnacle Peak, and just relaxing on our own terms.
Here are some of the restaurants and bars we visited that were superb!
Bourbon Steak is an amazing restaurant and bar located in the Fairmont Princess Hotel. They have amazing burgers and cocktails. I had the salmon steak burger and Ben had the traditional burger. Amazing.
