Benefits of Tea Tree oil for hair

Tea tree oil

Most people know that Tea Tree oil is a natural healing agent or an antiseptic for cuts and scrapes but it has many more benefits that just that. Tea Tree oil is extracted from a tree called Melaleuca alternifolia which is found in South Wales, Australia.  Natives make an herbal tea using the leaves of the tree and this is where the name came from.

Tea tree oil is particularly effective against fungus, bacteria and viruses and can help with many ailments from sore throats to acne to toenail fungus.  The uses of this oil are vast but please note it's not for human consumption.

This wonder oil has great uses for hair and scalp issues that many of us are suffering from including myself.  There are several shampoos with tea tree oil in them to for regular cleansing as well as fighting dandruff.

To fight dandruff:
Pour some shampoo in the palm of your hand and add 4 or 5 drops of the oil.  Begin shampooing and leave on your head for about five minutes to allow the oil to penetrate and work. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

"Tea tree oil is a proven anti-fungal and will gently kill off harmful bacteria and leave your scalp dandruff free after just a few uses. Tea tree oil is a natural alternative to the strong chemical formulas found in dandruff shampoos and products."

Although this alone is an excellent reason for using it on your scalp;Tea tree oil is also used against head lice and cradle cap.  Massaging the oil in your scalp on a regular basis can be very effective against many scalp issues along with helping with product and environmental build-up our hair is subject to.

I suffer from dandruff and have used dandruff shampoos in the past.  This go around I just started adding it to my AO shampoo instead of using a harsher dandruff shampoo.  I can still feel the tingling in my hair and no dandruff.  Can't go wrong with that.

This oil is great for cleansing the hair without damaging it and being a natural oil only makes it a better choice.
