Best in show

Something about seeing a cute pup that melts my heart. Even without the fancy kennel club pedigree, dogs offer us humans a gift each and every day we spend with them. So why not spend a few minutes admiring the pups featured in the 132nd annual Westminster Dog Show. A bit of dog show trivia from the New York Times slide show that fascinated my kids: The show dogs have a special cedar chip carpeted room to relieve themselves in in the basement of the Hotel Pennsylvania. Amazing!
The 2-day show began on Monday at Madison Square Garden. This year four breeds will make their debut at the dog show. This blog's link to the "Welcome to Westminster" audio file t offers a great description of the four new breeds (Tibetan Mastiff, Beauceron, Plott Hound, Swedish Valhound). Just click on the link and listen.
