Biàn Liǎn: The Art of Face Changing
By akellyanderson on October 02, 2012
Sometimes, no matter how cynical and well-traveled we think we are, we find ourselves swept up in the thrill of tourist culture. One such case for me was at the SiChuan Opera in Chengdu, China where I was able to view Biàn Liǎn, the art of face changing. My explanation can't do it justice, so here is a small sample from the same location I first encountered it.
There is another great video on Youtube that talks about the fastest performer in China, but it goes too much into the "how" of the art. Sometimes I just want to enjoy the illusion.
